SIMPLE ANSWER: Because nobody in the newsroom wants to touch it. Those I’ve spoken to there say there’s an absence of anything concrete in the Kristof piece to build off for purposes of real reporting, so they’d be starting from scratch.

If the @nytimes is so confident in @NickKristof reporting, why aren't they publishing multiple front page stories daily following up on it? cc: @noam_dworman

I've never been more wrong about anything - and I've been wrong about a lot! - than my fear Charles would be a disastrous monarch. It's not only that he hasn't put a foot wrong, it's that he has done everything - and more - so right. He has the perfect touch, the right manner and, most important of all, good judgment and the determination to act on it.

At Golders Green today, The King reaffirmed his support for the Jewish community, following a series of antisemitic attacks. During his time at the Jewish Care centre in North-West London, The King spoke to victims of the recent knife attack that took place in the area on 29th April 2026. His Majesty also met community police force, Shomrim, who were involved in responding to the attacks.

Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Jared Moskowitz urged the Jewish community to stop apologizing for supporting Israel — and to put figures like Hasan Piker and Candace Owens on the defensive instead. @marcrod97 reports: ji.news/546z7

This is so powerful. Golders Green is my local area. The hostility my Jewish friends and neighbours face is growing and it is scary. My heart goes out to them. I’m not Jewish. You don’t have to be to speak out. Defending Jewish people does not undermine any other value you hold. Thankfully some people are prepared to stand up, and it’s great to see that one of those people is the King.

I find it insane that people proudly declare, "I support Israel's right to exist," as though existence itself is a privilege that must be debated or granted. Do you ever hear anyone say they support France's right to exist? Japan's? America's? Any other nation on Earth? No. Because no country besides @Israel is forced to justify its existence to the world. When politicians make this statement, people applaud them like they just made some brave moral statement. They didn't. They stated something so basic it should never have to be said in the first place. @realDonaldTrump @POTUS @DAGToddBlanche @ASGWoodward @TheJusticeDept @marcorubio @SecRubio @StateDept @yechielleiter @IsraelinUSA @Israel @netanyahu

The @nytimes should stop digging the hole it’s in. They published a bullshit story that will incite attacks against Jews. This appears to be the point. After the easiest debunking in world history, they’re standing by the blood libel. It is a disgrace.

Israel should also sue lying sexual harasser kapo Shaiel Ben-Ephraim @academic_la, the source of the absolute hearsay upon hearsay of the phony story which was never verified bc it's absolute BS
Gerald Posner@geraldposner

BREAKING: Israel is suing The New York Times over Nicholas Kristof’s shoddy and error-filled opinion column alleging systematic rape and sexual torture of Palestinian prisoners by Israeli guards, soldiers, and settlers. Kristof’s piece — published May 11 — has been widely criticized by independent journalists and denounced by Israeli officials as a modern “blood libel.” Kristoff relied heavily on unverified claims from sources with documented Hamas sympathies and repeating graphic allegations (including much ridiculed claims about dogs trained for sexual abuse) without any rigorous corroboration. Little wonder the NYT ran it in the opinion section and not the news. Still, that does not absolve the paper's editors of a duty to fact check and vet such an inflammatory piece. As an investigative journalist, I’ve spent decades watching how stories get distorted. This one stands out for its timing and sourcing failures: it landed just before the release of a two-year Israel investigation about detailed evidence on Hamas’s own systematic sexual violence on Oct. 7, which the Times largely ignored. Israel’s government isn’t letting it slide. The Prime Minister’s Office and Foreign Ministry have now authorized a defamation lawsuit, calling Kristof’s column “one of the most hideous and distorted lies ever published against the State of Israel in the modern press.” This is NOT just another media spat. It’s a major escalation: a sovereign democracy taking on one of the most influential legacy newspapers for its reckless, agenda-driven journalism. The New York Times is standing by the piece for now. We’ll see how this plays out in court. But the mere fact that Israel felt compelled to sue speaks volumes about the state of elite media coverage of the Jewish state. I am looking forward to litigation discovery to determine what was behind Kristof's 'reporting'
