Context for treat time. We have to give Zoe some pills, which she hates. She was already for treat time but heard me cutting the foil pill package and left the kitchen in protest.

@mehdirhasan I agree it’s about Shapiro’s Israel stance not his Judaism but to suggest that Tucker’s anti-Israel positions whitewashes his overt antisemitism, embrace of Fuentes, etc. is a bridge too far. David Duke was anti-Israel too.

Oh STFU. If it was Bernie vs Tucker, Shadi wouldn't say that. If it was Ossof vs Tucker, Shadi wouldn't say that. This is about Josh Shapiro leaning into pro-Israel positions at a time when Carlson is reflecting progressive opinion by leaning into anti-Israel positions.
Mike Coté@ratlpolicy

So someone being Jewish is more disqualifying than someone being a 9/11 truther, an outright supporter of China & Russia, & a believer that WWII was a mistake? Thanks for being so obvious about it, I guess.

@BrentScher @EWErickson I hate Tucker but he’s right. “Right to exist” is a meaningless phrase that is never applied to any other country. Countries exist. Period. We judge what they do and respond accordingly.

I only got through a minute of this. Is it possible to be more annoying than this guy? He’s nitpicking the order of her statements, then launching into a rant that has nothing to do with anything she said

@YousefMunayyer The United States’s existence was also forged through ethnic cleansing. Ppl don’t generally ask if the US has a “right to exist” - it’s a nonsensical question.

@YousefMunayyer I don't know what I hate more, that the EIC of the Economist is so dismissive of the genuine question of what the "right to exist" actually means (has she truly not thought about this before?) or that an antisemitic asshole like Carlson is the one correctly pressing her on it.

@natemup @ryangrim @admcrlsn @TrackAIPAC ...which is ridiculous. If that's their purpose, they should change their name and handle to "Zionist Tracker" - as it stands they are openly spreading false information.

@ryangrim @admcrlsn @TrackAIPAC They've stated it repeatedly, as others have noted. They generally won't post a negative graphic if a pol is pro-Palestinian and against the genocide. Vice versa with one who's pro-Israel. They even have graphics that don't mention funding and just note that someone is a Zionist.

Still haven’t gotten a straight answer about why these guys call out Daniel Biss for the contributions he’s gotten from J Street, but don’t call out the contributions Chris Van Hollen has gotten from J Street.

#IL09 UPDATE: the pro-Israel lobby has now spent >$460,000 supporting Daniel Biss (@DanielBiss). He won't call Israel's actions a genocide, opposes the BDS movement while lobbing accusations of antisemitism, and continues to support "defensive" weapons transfers to Israel funded by U.S. taxpayers. His campaign has received donations from an array donors who have made large contributions to AIPAC, J Street, and even the Republican Jewish Coalition, among other Israel lobby groups. J Street is currently running ads to support him.

@Diego4Justice @shannonrwatts J Street is in NO WAY an "AIPAC-affiliated" PAC - they have drastically different policy positions, in fact - and yet AIPAC Tracker routinely includes contributions to candidates from them, which is disinformation.

@shannonrwatts The AIPAC TRACKER includes money contributed to candidates by AIPAC affiliated PACS. AIPAC is using other PACS to whitewash its money and influence. Pointing those facts out is not antisemitism

Congratulations to Baltimore on historic public safety progress. Homicides are down 31% last year and 59% over five years. In 2025, the city recorded its fewest homicides in 50 years.

Randy Fine doesn't represent me or any decent Jew and should remove his kippah. I'm not telling any Jew how to observe their faith—personal practice is sacred and private. Full stop. However, since Randy Fine himself says that he isn’t an observing Jew but puts on a kippah to make a statement, then we must call it out. He puts it on when he's spewing Islamophobic sewage, demanding more fear of Muslims, demonizing other faiths, or gloating over harm. Kippahs aren't bigotry capes. It's not a prop for Venom. It's supposed to remind you that God sees the filth you're peddling. Take it off and stop pretending you're anything but a hate-peddling disgrace. Jews everywhere: Let's make it clear—RANDY FINE DOES NOT SPEAK FOR US.

For Jews, connection to Israel is not political. It is existential. Israel is to the Jewish people what water is to a fish or air is to the lungs. Our Bible speaks about it. Our prayers face it. Our hearts long for it. For thousands of years Jews ended every Passover with the words: “Next year in Jerusalem.” Israel is our homeland. That does not mean Jews cannot be loyal citizens of the countries where we live. I love the United States with all my heart and soul. Yet loving America does not erase the eternal bond between the Jewish people and the land of Israel. There has never been Judaism without Israel.

People who dislike Israel should not conflate it with American Jews -just as people should not conflate the PRC with Chinese Americans or ISIS with American Muslims. And (not but) synagogues should not say "We stand with Israel" because it encourages that conflation. It makes congregants less safe but, more importantly, given what Israel is doing, it's morally indefensible. It's like a Russian Orthodox church saying "We stand with Russia" after the invasion of Ukraine. peterbeinart.substack.com/p/lessons-from…

Senator, I work for the Leader of the Opposition in Israel and I’m writing this from a bomb shelter with my children. Israel is under attack by fanatical terrorists who want to murder us. It never ceases to amaze that your humanity never seems to extend to Israeli lives.
Bernie Sanders@BernieSanders

It’s not just Iran. It’s Lebanon. In less than 2 weeks, Israel has killed 570 people and displaced 750,000 — over 10% of the entire country. Residential buildings are being bombed with no warning. The U.S. cannot continue to be complicit in Netanyahu’s wars.

NYC mayor Mamdanis wife liked this picture of twelve year old Yagil Yaakov who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7th, his father was murdered. He was forced to strip infront of all these people and then abused. Hamas posted this Pic. She needs to at least apologize, but she will double down cuz “resistance” means kidnapping and humiliating kids and babies. And the massacres. We will never forgive or forget.

@rabbicreditor @YairZivan Exactly! Our countries are both led by narcissistic psychopaths guided only by ego and self-interest (in both cases staying out of jail). I’m not as familiar with internal Israeli politics but in the US, every advisor with sense begged Trump not to do this. There was no plan.

@Serps @YairZivan I wonder what your sources for knowing these (non) intentions are, not that I have greater access to that information. (And, clearly, the Ayatollah’s son wasn’t a plan.) But were that not the intention (again, from Israel’s standpoint), then why place so much at risk?

@rabbicreditor @YairZivan There’s no indication that these attacks were even *intended* to degrade Iran’s nuclear capabilities. The bunker-busting bomb last June targeted that, yes, but killing the 80-something Ayatollah and replacing him with his less pragmatic son? Just inviting more chaos and death.

@rabbicreditor @YairZivan Sadly there is zero chance of that and Israel and the US know it. The chaos these attacks bring and the real likelihood they lead to more extreme leadership in Iran (with nuclear capabilities) make them not just unnecessary but reckless.

@Serps @YairZivan If that’s what had happened, I’d agree with you. But, given Iran’s pursuit of nuclear power throughout, sponsorship of proxy terrorism, “unprovoked” feels wrong as a description. 93% of Israelis support the end of the threat, and are paying dearly for this attempt to end it.

@rabbicreditor @YairZivan I don’t see any way that the current attacks, which have killed so many - including hundreds of children - prevent Iran from gaining nuclear capability, change leadership, or accomplish literally anything productive. Indeed the US has yet to articulate any achievable goals.

@Serps @YairZivan It is deeply sad, and I don’t know if it will succeed in a lasting way. Iran is, to my mind, more than a frequent aggressor - it is a clear and present danger on the threshold of nuclear capability, barely being held back. I do think that the US & Israel have differing goals.
