Comic Sid Caesar (1922-2014) was a master of humor, slapstick and accents, whose 1950s series "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour" rewrote the rules of comedy in the new medium of television. Mo Rocca talks with David Margolick, author of the biography "When Caesar Was King," and with comedian Robert Klein, about the unique gifts of Caesar. cbsn.ws/47jzJ8l

The Paragon Park roller coaster gave a good view of the Boston skyline in the distance. The giant coaster was built after the park fire in 1916 and opened for rides in May 1917. It gave a ride of nearly a mile and a half, its highest point 98 feet above the ground. It cost $100,000 to build and 200 mechanics worked nine months on its construction seen here in 1982 (Ted Dully/Globe)

@VanHipp My dad served with Barry Sadler and arranged for this to be played at his funeral. Hearing it always brings tears to my eyes.

Staff Sergeant Barry Sadler's "The Ballad of the Green Berets," hit #1 on Billboard 60 years ago this month, in March 1966. It sold over 9 million copies. And it inspired a generation of freedom loving young Americans to serve their county. 🇺🇸 🗽

Johann Sebastian Bach wrote his Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, whose second movement later became famous as the “Air on the G String,” a piece long admired in its pure string form. Centuries later, arranger Guido Dieteren reimagined it for soprano, discovering its naturally vocal quality. Performed by Wendy Kokkelkoren with orchestra, the result feels less like a reinvention and more like a completion—enhanced by their personal connection and deeply moving audiences.

The Pilot episode of Gene Roddenberry’s STAR TREK (1965) was rejected by NBC and not seen in full until it’s release on VHS in 1986 (although it was incorporated into the Season 1, 2-part episode "The Menagerie" in 1966). #JeffreyHunter #LeonardNimoy

Chuck was an icon. I am grateful that I was able to work with him in multiple ways over the years, from promoting fitness to sharing the screen together. He was a badass, in real life and in Hollywood. His legend will be with us forever. My thoughts are with his family.

The Oscars In Memoriam ignored him but I cannot. He was my friend. I put him in five films. In early January I buried James “PJ” Ransone after he committed suicide… He was a complex, funny, talented, and undeniably reckless person. He was wildly alive and deeply loved. I know he said some infuriating things online, but the last time I saw him, he cried with regret for all of that. “I didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings,” he said. Please don’t trash him here. He is dearly missed.

24 years ago today my life changed when audiences embraced our little show on a (then) nothing network. A perpetual thank you to everyone in front of and behind the camera who made The Shield possible.

@timecaptales All great except for dreadful coffee chain, Timothy’s, which specialized in different flavors of brewed coffees in glass pots kept warm on burners. They did have decent apple cider in the fall.
