If you asked me about greatest change over the 40 years I worked in the NHS I would say the loss of consultant autonomy. The horrifying story of the baby-murders at Chester and the management’s refusal to listen to the doctors is a ghastly culmination of this process.

Nice technique to torque around a Gothic arch. #tavr #tavi Buddy wire & 20mm BAV balloon partially inflated to wrap nose cone and capsule edge. Push both gently and slowly -2 people needed! Deflect & smooth round the bend. Variation of balloon assisted tracking

Yesterday at #JamesCookHospital we performed 10 #TAVI procedures in 1 day. Our patients are all awake, and the majority have only paracetamol. Of these 10, 7 were well enough to go home the same day! What an achievement! @SouthTees @ccu_jcuh @EdwardsLifesci @Edwards_TAVR
