@Seth_Mayes @oliverburdick When it comes to genetics I don't guess. I have studied it as part of my education. Granted, I'm not a geneticist but i do know the basics. Humans would not survive a genetic bottleneck like that.

Noah’s Ark had 8 people. Today there are only 8 blood types in the world. Thousands of years apart, yet the same number.

@Seth_Mayes @oliverburdick They most likely could not. And even so, If humanity came from 8 closely related people just 4,000 years ago, we’d see extreme genetic uniformity today. But human DNA shows far more diversity than that bottleneck could produce. Ergo it never happened.

@Seth_Mayes @oliverburdick If humanity restarted from 8 closely related people 4,000 years ago, the issue isn’t population growth. Exponential growth is easy. The problem is genetics. Severe inbreeding bottlenecks cause harmful mutations, low fertility, high infant mortality, and loss of genetic diversity.

@MrMoeruTe @oliverburdick I urge you to research what the population would be today with even 1 percent growth. If inbreeding survives 10 generations, most things would fall off and become normal.

@Seth_Mayes @oliverburdick Are you joking... 8 people, 5 who were would not be able to start a viable human population. You would need around 100 of already diverse genetic makeup to avoid inbreeding, to avoid generic drift you would need at least 500.
