@Zonal_Marking It's so bizarre given how much Argentina suffered on the counter attack against Cape Verde and especially Egypt. It's been said a thousand times already but they were 1-0 down and a 3-0 defeat waiting to happen.

So maybe it's about tiredness as much as tactics. The Mexico altitude & the Miami humidity were unprecedented physical tests. And therefore maybe the error in this game was the first half high press - out of keeping with anything else at this World Cup - which cost England later.

@MiguelDelaney Williams being on the field should stretch the field and give him more space. But there's times in this tournament where he's looked selfish and looking like he feels he needs to perform. As if he knows he hasn't got the 'stat' that others have and wants to catch up.

Spain not brilliant there, and you could see the lack of form/fitness in attack (especially a surprisingly greedy and inefficient Yamal) but they got through it. Shades of the Paraguay game in 2010, which was much more on the edge for them.
