The MQ-9B, by Indian standards, isn’t treated as a typical MALE UAV. The U.S., however, classifies it as a MALE platform and employs it accordingly, a system that can be risked when the mission demands it.
In India, given its cost and limited numbers, the MQ-9B is far more likely to be treated as a preserved asset rather than a semi-attritable one. That’s a fundamental difference in operational philosophy and that’s why we need enormous number of MALE from Indian industry (Indian).

DRDO successfully flight-tested the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) from ITR, Chandipur, validating a user-defined minimum range of 60 km with textbook precision. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh hailed it as a major milestone in India’s indigenous long-range guided rocket capability.
