📣 Just wanted to address something real quick as a Black Publisher in West Virginia 🖤✊🏾 I've noticed a trend lately where people shower @BlackByGodWV w/ compliments, “We love BBG…” Now, don't get me wrong, I appreciate the love and support, but….

@mitifig @BikeDC For a while their were thoughts of capturing water from their troubled stormwater system down there. But I think if you wanted to go 4 stories and millions of dollars deep you’d find a few retrofit bike racks.

Hey @bikedc why is there no bike parking in the garage at #dcusa Columbia Heights? Where do people leave their bikes while they shop?

@mitifig @BikeDC Those bottom couple floors weren’t used & having vacant parking deck floors was just a safety problem. So they blocked them off.

@mitifig @BikeDC I can answer the former, but am out of date on the latter. DC and the developer got into a dispute over that parking deck because 1 side knew the 2 bottom floors were a massive waste and the other insisted on them to attract national tenants who wanted a big box footprint

@fedupworkingmom I’m sorry I don’t have the details & don’t want to make the mistake of using personal Twitter as a work account. ;-) But they’re coming along. Construction’s always stop/start on bldgs this old with all the unknowns.

@ShaneFarthing I hope they are including a winery, a craft brewery. And a bandstand. Aren’t the developers targeting shoppers and panhandle residents? You would think they would run a few focus groups….when is the target completion date and do they have a name yet ? Thanks Shane

@ShaneFarthing My husband and I moved to falling Waters (fled Dc) and are very excited about this new development bringing nice restaurants and nice shopping. So I thought you guys should look at the one in Canton…

@bogrosemary My state highway department wouldnt allow bus stop signs that the MPO designed (among all the billboards they allow) because they worry it’ll be too much clutter for the poor motorists. Over-abundance for one mode mandating scarcity for all others.

@DavidJoy_Author Makes sense. I’m not a rural guy. I’m trying to convince folks the value of rebuilding the historic downtown instead and stop putting the big boxes on the farms. But I’m out of parcels that will hold them & folks want those coolers.

@ShaneFarthing The erasure comes from the removal of people and land, the subsequent cultural extinction that occurs from the untying of that knot.

One of the deepest dilemmas of rural gentrification for the gentry is that they’re seeking the very thing they’re erasing.

@walkyourcamera Been fortunate to work at some good ones. But just having a shower and changing area available for employees is the one that made the biggest difference in making folks feel comfortable being active in how they get to work and at breaks.

That thing where District leadership picks a complex corridor, spends half-a-decade planning, then screws it up in a last minute fit of pique looks even dumber from a distance.

@infieldflygrl The premise is that it’s all a TV show. One thing you learn as a Nats fan, given the dispute with the O’s, is that in-game spending just doesn’t matter compared to TV viewership money and how that gets spread.

@sarahshook I worry about artists seeing this stuff and (reasonably) avoiding our difficult state in response, which will just isolate folks more. Certainly not an expectation, but if you ever want to play my little part of WV we’ll try to fill up a venue for you.

@cgoodwoman Any chance you have a shareable version not behind the paywall? (Terrible thing to ask a writer & journalist, I know. But I’m still refusing to accept I must subscribe to the local paper of a town 5 hours away to get state leg coverage.)

@WHands80 @beyonddc There are several proposals to include Hancock/Cumberland. I’ve been watching to see that they don’t leave WV since WV won’t pay. Currently looks like it would cost MD more to leave. So more optimistic than it’s been.
