An example of democracy, elections, and the rule of law at the grassroots level today: people are being killed simply for wanting to stand in elections. In Bogura, a former Jubo League (youth wing of @albd1971) leader has allegedly been abducted in public and brutally murdered by a Jubo Dal (youth wing of @bdbnp78) leader for running as a candidate in a market committee election. He was taken from a polling center and subjected to severe torture, including having the tendons of his hands and feet severed. He was later hospitalized, but on Friday (April 3) at dawn, he died while receiving treatment. #Yunus did not pay taxes on his own organization, Grameen Kalyan Trust, depriving the country of thousands of crores in revenue. At the same time, 44 percent of the country’s children were deprived of measles vaccinations, leading to child deaths. These two facts have been verified and are sufficient to understand Yunus’s record in terms of governance and corruption. His paid stooges continue to defend him because they have also benefited financially from his misuse of power.

A formal UN communication has raised serious concerns over the political and human rights situation in Bangladesh, particularly the ban on the Awami League and the use of anti-terror and tribunal laws against its members. The UN flagged issues including mass arrests, restrictions on political speech and assembly, and alleged violations of fair trial rights. These developments point to a shrinking democratic space, where opposition voices are being sidelined and due process is increasingly questioned. As the country approaches a critical political juncture, the international community is being urged to closely monitor the situation and ensure that fundamental rights and democratic principles are upheld. albd.org/articles/news/… #AwamiLeague #Bangladesh #HumanRights

Very proud to see hundreds of 18-20 year olds in Hampstead and Highgate getting a £1500 pay rise as minimum rates increase this week. And with the two-child benefit cap being scrapped for 1,650 local children next week, this is a huge month for reducing child poverty in our area. This is only something a Labour Government can deliver 🌹

According to the Bangladesh government’s EPI database, the vaccination rate during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure was around 90 percent. In contrast, during the Yunus government in 2025, this rate dropped to 59.6 percent under the so-called “Yunus magic.” This figure included the measles-rubella (MR) vaccine as well. As a consequence, children are now dying after being infected with measles. Therefore, responsibility for child deaths due to measles resulting from a lack of vaccination should be borne by @Yunus_Centre. Meanwhile, the BNP’s Health Minister has claimed that no vaccinations have been administered over the past eight years. This is completely false. Vaccinations were not given during Yunus’s one-and-a-half-year tenure; however, they were indeed administered during Sheikh Hasina’s time, as can be seen in the government database. Therefore, the BNP’s Health Minister should apologize to the nation for spreading this misinformation. To those who say that Sheikh Hasina only carried out infrastructural development and that these do not even count as development, I would like to say that there is no sector where her development footprint is absent. As time goes on, the nation will come to understand this more clearly. The Yunus government ran the country through ‘empty rhetoric,’ and the BNP government has begun with blatant falsehoods. In a very short time, the people of this country will realize that there is no alternative to Sheikh Hasina’s leadership when it comes to improving the livelihoods of ordinary people. -Mohammad Ali Arafat

Mohammad Ali Hawlader, Senior Vice President of the Awami League in Ward No. 5 of Char Kolmi Union under Char Fasson Upazila in Bhola district, and his family have recently fallen victim to a brutal and barbaric attack. The attackers, reportedly affiliated with the BNP, carried out this assault in a planned attempt to suppress political opponents. The attack has left family members in severe physical and psychological distress. Looting, vandalism, and intimidation of their home reflect a pattern of behavior long associated with BNP. This incident clearly shows that BNP continues to rely on violence and fear to expand its political influence. Such barbaric acts, carried out in disregard of the rule of law, can never be accepted. #Bangladesh #BNPViolence #AwamiLeague

1 in 3 people in the UK have an allergic disease such as a nut allergy 🥜 Thank you to Allergy UK for this important reminder about how to use an EpiPen. This vital first aid knowledge can save the life of an allergy sufferer and must be widely available to the public. I am looking forward to seeing the National Allergy Strategy later this month and working with colleagues to support a safer world for people with allergies

On this auspicious occasion of the 26th March, our Great Independence and National Day, I extend my warmest greetings to all. Today, we pay profound tribute to the greatest Bengali of all time, the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under whose indomitable leadership, we achieved our long-cherished dream of an independent and sovereign Bangladesh. On this historic day, Bangladesh Students’ League remembers with deepest respect and gratitude the 3 million martyrs and 200,000 mothers and sisters who were subjected to brutality during the great Liberation War. Their immense sacrifices and blood have given us this sovereign nation. Bangladesh Students’ League remains firmly committed to upholding the spirit of our Independence — Democracy, Nationalism, Secularism, and Social Justice. Just as in the past, we shall continue to play a pioneering role in establishing these core values in the future as well. Let us move forward carrying the immortal spirit of our Independence as our sacred pledge. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.

Thousands of students across Bangladesh are still waiting to return to their universities after being allegedly rusticated without due process during the Yunus era. The report highlights claims of academic blacklisting, intimidation, and collective punishment—turning campuses into spaces of fear rather than learning. At its core, this is not just about student politics—it is about whether education can survive political retribution. When due process is replaced by administrative orders and mob pressure, the very foundation of academic freedom is put at risk. 👉ianslive.in/bangladesh-tho… #Bangladesh #Education
