Day 8 — Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940m) 🏔️ I could hardly sleep the night before. The altitude at this point simply does not allow it. The body is fighting just to adjust to breathe. The temperatures drop deep into the minus at night, somewhere between the cold and the thin air ☁️ We set off early morning. And from the very first step — it was clear this day was going to be different. No trees. No grass. No flowers. Nothing green anywhere. The mountains had turned completely brown — bare, rocky, stripped of everything. Because at this altitude, nothing grows. No vegetation survives. It is just rock upon rock upon rock, under the sky that feels both enormous and beautiful.😍 And then — the companions. Mules and yaks on the same narrow trail as us, carrying supplies up to the higher camps — because this is the only way anything reaches up here. No roads. No vehicles. Just these cute companions, navigating the same impossible terrain that we were barely managing ourselves.💓 And while we were gasping for breath and clinging to the mountain side — the Sherpa people carrying loads of weight or accompanying the animals were practically running. These people are truly extraordinary. 🙌🏻 Before reaching Lobuche, we came across the memorial site — a collection of stone memorials dedicated to mountaineers who lost their lives attempting to summit Everest. Each one a story of bravery.🙏🏻🫡 Each one a soul who came here with the same dream we carried. Their refusal to give up even when the mountain said no. After a quite challenging day, we reached our destination- Loubuche 🏔️ Because that is what you do on Everest trek.
