A call to action, the podcast exploring approaches to children’s social care. This discussion was a timely reminder of how taking a restorative approach in children’s services is a return to social work values. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/rad…

This is so frustrating. It’s over 30 years since the intro of family group conferences in the UK with research confirming families make safe and protective plans for children. Isn’t it time to legislate for family decision making #FGC theguardian.com/society/2022/j…

Headed back to Leeds after a long day in the big smoke, well worth it though, observing a restorative action learning set facilitated by the wonderful Nigel Poulose in Tower Hamlets. He has such skill in creating a space for folk to connect and learn @samgnairPSWLBTH

Proud and privileged to work with the most dedicated of colleagues and partners in Leeds - committed to listening to and acting on the voice of children and families - working ‘with’ them to achieve positive change despite the many challenges.

Had a remarkable day with family group conference co-ordinations in BANES who are passionate about working with families to support and safeguard children. Partnership with social workers is crucial to their practice.

Leonard Ashley 30/5/1923 - 26/2/2022 A child refugee who was always grateful to his adopted country. He taught his kids to look out for others, work hard, be obsessed by politics & support @SpursOfficial. He loved & was so proud of his family. The feeling was mutual.

I keep thinking I can't be shocked any more - turns out I can. It takes huge courage to speak out about discrimination by your own political party. @Nus_Ghani #Islamophobia

@CathyAshley @LambethHortUK I cut mine down yesterday too and added them to a bunch of flowers from the garden, I’m thinking I might grow some just for that purpose next year. Apparently you can eat the seed pods too - I understand they’re very peppery. Enjoy your gardening x

Congratulations @IanWright0 for being brave enough to share his experience of domestic abuse and ensuing emotional abuse. Emotional viewing which really began to dig into the complexities and impact of domestic abuse. Let’s keep this dialogue going

The case for FGC great article , 👍👍 @KateParkinson5 'Family led decision making should be at the heart of the child protection process. It is clear from the research that actively engaging families in decision making leads to better outcomes' sw2020covid19.group.shef.ac.uk/2021/04/28/fam…
