@dominiclisti The book “Performance Cortex” describes that the brain cannot tell the difference between playing, moving, and watching another do the same. By watching baseball you learned the game, but you also reinforced your motor cortex and muscle memory doing so.

My Highschool baseball coach begged us to watch 20-30 minutes of college/professional baseball a night. I never understood it. Reflecting on it now, I am deeply grateful I did as he asked. It helped me think the game & develop baseball IQ ahead of my age. As I help coaching Highschool baseball now : The baseball IQ is seemingly getting worse for high schoolers as time goes on & the world becomes exceedingly more short form & instant gratification centric. If you’re a parent and/or young baseball player I hope you understand how much understanding the intricacies of the game will play in your favor over the long haul.

@MitraHispana @CryptoMikli Absolutely. You could for sure have the AI write the briefs, motions, etc. but all adjudication must be done by humans.

It’s all it seems to take these days. Given Caesar Chavez had very little connection to Texas, any Chavez named street, building, etc. should be named after real heroes from Texas. Paulie is a great guy and deserves recognition by our city. Same with Robert Hughes, BBall Coach here.

@KeruboSk Gen X here, and I wrote 15-20 page scholarly essays with full bibliography and footnotes doing the same! Had to be instrumental, and black coffee in giant mugs. Sometimes the paper would only take me about 90 minutes and I made the A.

Millennials are the elite generation because they cranked out 12-page essays the night before they were due. No ChatGPT. No Claude. Just lo-fi beats playing in the background, Black coffee at midnight, footnotes that were somehow correct, and pure delusion. Grade was an A minus. Period.

Polling consistently shows this as not the case - though naturalized citizens in Texas are to the left of natives, it's not the case with Americans moving to Texas for work and a better life. BBQ outside of Texas is odd.

I started my coaching career in a school with no Baseball culture. Guys never played before, but were great athletes.We finished the season 25-8, 7-6 in district, and first winning season 20+ years. Got fired. (why was pretty insidious) My next school was a small inner-city school, I became a football coach with a lot of great kids, no talent, spent every year focusing on the fundamentals. Did 4 years there and another 8 in different programs. Even becoming a Head Football Coach. Then I became a DL coach for a premiere program with kids who had D1 talent. We just focused on the fundamentals, worked with the kids who didn’t have D1 talent on the fundamentals. We were voted the best DL in TX Private High School Football. You know what happened? An alum and booster didn’t like I was giving her son a C and wouldn’t change it. She had me fired 1 week before the State Championship Game. My boys lost their focus and lost the State Championship. Yet, they still know I love them and the over 400 kids I have coached know it as well.

EVERYONE can “Coach” the best players… What can you do with that scrawny/slow WR or overweight/weak OL??? Coach, Develop, and Love them ALL!!
