Support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 will end by October 31, 2024!
To enhance security and provide best-in-class encryption for your data, Microsoft requires interactions with services to be secured using Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 or later beginning October 31, 2024, when support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 will end.
The Microsoft implementation of older TLS versions is not known to be vulnerable. However, TLS 1.2 and later offer improved security with features such as perfect forward secrecy and stronger cipher suites.
𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
To avoid potential service disruptions, confirm that your resources that interact with services are using TLS 1.2 or later.
- If they're already exclusively using TLS 1.2 or later, you don't need to take further action.
- If they still have a dependency on TLS 1.0 or 1.1, transition them to TLS 1.2 or later by 31 October 2024.

NEW: Microsoft is rolling out IP addresses feature in the Tenant Allow/Blocklist!
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲:
Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will soon support IPv6 allow and block entries for customers with specific service plans. The rollout will begin in early October 2024 and complete by early November 2024, allowing admins to manage IPv6 addresses directly in the Tenant Allow/Block Lists.
NOTE: This applies to customers with Microsoft Exchange Online Protection or Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 or Plan 2 service plans.
𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧:
General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD): Microsoft will begin rolling out in early October 2024 and expects to complete it by early November 2024.
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Before this rollout: Admins cannot block or allow IPv6 addresses.
After this rollout, you can make IPv6 allow and block entries in these formats:
- Colon-hexadecimal notation single IPv6 address (for example, 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334)
- Zero compression single IPv6 address (for example, 2001:db8::1)
- Classless inter-domain routing (CIDR) IPv6 (for example, 2001:0db8::/32). The range supported is 1-128.
The IP block entry will drop any email sent from that IP at the edge, whereas the IP allow will just override the IP filtering, allowing the rest of the Defender for Office 365 stack to evaluate threats. IP block has a higher priority over IP allow entries.
Admins can create entries in the Defender portal or with the Microsoft PowerShell New-TenantAllowBlockListItems cmdlet (ListType parameter with value IP) without the need for submissions.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞:
This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout. If one wants to block emails from IPv6 addresses or allow email from IPv6 addresses, the admin need to create entries to do so.
There are multiple methods to block email from unwanted senders with Exchange Online Protection (EOP). Microsoft recommends always starting with the Tenant Allow/Block List approach.

Microsoft Teams is now AVAILABLE as a single app for personal and business use!
Earlier this year, Microsoft announced merging the separate Teams apps for personal and business users.
The renewed Microsoft Teams app is available for:
- Windows 11
- Windows 10
- MacOS
You can now seamlessly switch between account types, such as private and business accounts. Previously, separate apps were required when using different account types.
One of the Microsoft Teams apps will automatically receive an update to the new app version. It's also possible to manually download the update.
Private, work, and education accounts will now open in separate windows within the same app. You can also set up a preferred account and participate in meetings as guests without logging in.
