Today marks the 46th anniversary of the Genocide of the Feyli Kurds, in which thousands of Feyli Kurds were killed, disappeared and displaced by the former Ba'athist regime. Once again, we remind the federal government of its moral, legal and constitutional responsibility to provide reparations to the victims of the Genocide of the Feyli Kurds, the chemical weapons attacks, the Anfal Genocide and all the victims of the former Iraqi regime. On this somber occasion, we pay tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the Genocide of the Feyli Kurds and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.

On the second day of the camp of law which was initiated by the KCIL, the focus was on international criminal law. The Camp will continue for five days, and law students from four universities will be familiarized with the intricacies of international criminal law. #law

Workshop 2 of #GRM2024 is “The GCC between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.” This workshop unravels the intricate tapestry of relationships among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and the federal government of Iraq after the pivotal Kurdish independence referendum in 2017. The workshop will address the topic of Iraq’s relations with Syria, Turkey, and Iran, shedding light on how these bilateral relationships impact the leverage of the KRG vis-a-vis Baghdad.  The workshop is directed by Marianna Charountaki and Inna Rudolf. The 14th Gulf Research Meeting organized by the Gulf Research Center officially began on July 9, 2024 at the University of Cambridge with nearly 400 participants convening to exchange ideas and perspectives in areas ranging from security and conflict resolution to AI and climate change related to the Gulf region. Over the following 2 days, participants will share their research on critical issues affecting the Gulf in 13 different workshops with the overall aim to contribute to a better understanding of the developments impacting the Gulf. #GRM2024
