Amazing how lots of self appointed game theory experts confidently asserting that blue is the stupid choice. But every time this poll is run blue wins. Not only is the “game theory” answer predicting the wrong outcome, its explanatory power is based on it being able to predict the right answer. So it’s doubly wrong.

The Zimmermann Telegram is the kind of thing I absolutely 100% would not have believed was real, and would’ve been entirely convinced the Brits made it up to get us into WW1, except for the fact Zimmermann immediately gave an interview being like “Yeah I wrote that shit.”

@TommyFaceOnFire the argument was more of "Mailboxes and stuff by the side of the road generally has to meet safety standards for traffic accidents while hitting them" but i dont know enough to really argue the point, it just made sense.

The IDF just got caught trying to rewrite history in real time, claiming their troops “replaced” the crucifix in Debel, southern Lebanon, after one of their own smashed it with a sledgehammer.
After the initial incident went viral, the IDF posted a photo of a tiny stand-in nailed to a tree as proof of their “deep regret.”
Reality Check: The local Christian community refused the Israeli prop. It was Italian UNIFIL peacekeepers who delivered and installed the actual new crucifix within 48 hours, with the Papal Nuncio personally blessing it on site.
Israeli damage-control: Destroy the symbol, lie about fixing it, and let someone else clean up the mess.

The Northern Command worked to coordinate the replacement of the statue from the moment it received the report of the incident. How would this suspect be less dangerous with gun in hand standing still then he would be with gun in hand moving towards the officers.
It's a gun. It fires hot lead over distance at speed. If anything the suspect is likely to more accurate, and there for more dangerous, when he posts up than when he's in motion.
Either scenario, however, is more than sufficient for the officers to have reasonably formed a perception of an imminent deadly force threat.

I don’t know the particulars of this case.
If he was really distributing child pornography, then he got what he deserved, but he also deserved a chance to defend himself in court.
What I do know is if someone busts my door down in the middle of the night I’m running up armed as well.
Why did the police choose this time to come hit his house? Why didn’t they go get him at work or at a time when they knew he wouldn’t be armed?
No knock warrants should only be utilized for terrorists or imminent threats.
This is insane and unnecessary.

Bodycam footage has been released of Miami deputies serving a warrant for Cristian Barata (25) who was suspected of distributing child pornography. As the cops breached the door, women and children came out and Cristian's brother, Christopher (21), came out of his room with a Sig Sauer P365XL wearing a Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X & a Vortex Defender red dot optic at the low ready position. Police opened fire on Christopher, killing him. Both brothers were TSA agents. FDLE is investigating the shooting incident which certainly isn't a black and white use of force like we normally see. Christopher doesn't appear to raise his firearm before being shot and being armed in your house isn't a crime; especially in south Florida where criminals have a long history of breaking into homes whilst announcing "police or policia!!!" This post is an excellent litmus test for understanding of just war theory. Despite the fact that I can see how effective this would be, I must oppose it because the damage it would do to my enemy (who bashes in my mailbox) would far outweigh the good of saving my mailbox. Its disproportionality is opposed by our duty in charity (and even justice) to watch out even for the good of our enemies. (Yes, by the way, I have had my mailbox bashed in by random vandals.)

The DOJ uses paid informants all the time —why is it OK for them but not the SPLC? @splcenter plays a vital role in fighting hatred, yet has been unfairly targeted by Trump and House Republicans since day one. This politicized intimidation needs to stop, now.
