માનનીય વડાપ્રધાન શ્રી નરેન્દ્રભાઇ મોદીએ આપેલા રૂર્બન કોન્સેપ્ટ મુજબ રાજ્યના દરેક તાલુકામાં "આત્મા ગામડાનો અને સુવિધા શહેરોની" હોય તેવા સ્માર્ટ વિલેજનું નિર્માણ કરવાનો રાજ્ય સરકારનો અભિગમ છે. જે દિશામાં આગળ વધીને સ્માર્ટ વિલેજ યોજના અંતર્ગત ૧૬ જિલ્લાની ૩પ ગ્રામ પંચાયતોને સ્માર્ટ વિલેજ જાહેર કરી. આ ગામોના સર્વાંગી વિકાસ માટે ગ્રામ પંચાયત દીઠ પાંચ લાખ રૂપિયાની પુરસ્કાર રકમ આપવામાં આવશે. રસ્તા, ગટર, સ્વચ્છતા, સ્ટ્રીટલાઈટ, રોડ કનેક્ટિવિટી સહિતના વિવિધ માપદંડો ધ્યાને રાખીને સ્માર્ટ વિલેજ તરીકે આ ગામોની પસંદગી કરવામાં આવી છે. આ સ્માર્ટ વિલેજ અન્ય વિસ્તાર માટે ‘એક્શન લેબોરેટરી’ તરીકે કામ કરે તેમજ ગુડ ગવર્નન્સ અને ટુરિઝમના સ્થળ તરીકે વિકસે તેવી સરકારની નેમ છે.
