More ridiculous takes from the Solana Tech Discord. @solblaze_org insists if SIMD-0228 passes then Solana is officially a "VC Chain." Forget anyone else who is for 228. They must be sleeper agents for Multicoin! If you are staking with Solblaze or his pool, its time to move on. He's gone off the deep end. @multicoin @solana

@David_Grid From my read, your model does not consider the likelihood that the reduction in inflationary rewards will cause stakers to seek return from validators' other rewards sources, i.e. block rewards. Therefore the results do not reflect the likely reality.

6/ The model then looks at the number of actual non-0% commission and non-100% commission (likely private validators) in each cohort to estimate the optimistic case for the impact of SMID-0228. It then assumes the commission that validators take from delegates on 1) inflation, 2) fees (vote, base, priority), and 3) JTO tips: -Inflation: the model uses the actual average commission for each validator group per Solana Beach (excluding the non-0/100% commission validators) -Fees: the model assumes 100% of fees go to validators -Jito Tips: the model assumes that 10% of MEV goes to validators Are the numbers perfect? No. But I got them from discussions with validators. I’m very open to additional community feedback here. One thing I’ll note: the SMID-0228 inflation reduction could have knock on impact on fee splits. The lower base inflation could cause delegators to squeeze validator fees and MEV rev cuts even lower to make up for lost yield, so I think there is likely even more downside risk to validator profitability vs. what’s shown in the model.

@ChainflowSol Staking yield already increases when stake levels are low by virtue of the way staking works

@ChainflowSol Would be awesome to have those points IN THE SIMD with actual demonstrable numbers showing what would happen in the current curve. It's the kind of evidence that was not provided that we are clamoring for.

@ChainflowSol To be clear it was also an implicit "contract" under which all currently staked SOL bought in and staked. You can't just void a contract without agreement of your counterparty.

@metanallok @mert @0xLewis_gg @toly geo distribution is a mostly pointless vanity metric IMO. Can really only grow outward at the edges, these attempts to plant a validator in the middle of nowhere are not helpful.

@mert @ShinobiSystems @0xLewis_gg @toly Well you can focus on geo distribution - improving the network that way I don't think there's anything wrong with that approach given you're a single operator and then improving the network in the other ways that matter.

this is unreal in 2021, I used to write indexers and bots to mess around on Solana on the side while working at Coinbase I then quit to help build out the ecosystem — and now, we just surpassed Coinbase to become the no.2 validator on Solana!! grateful for the manlets

@7LayerMagik @toly That already happened. With known sybils the superminority is actually 16 right now. Nearly half what it was a year ago.
