@AdaLluch This is exactly why I'm not going to Brussels. Heard too many bad things from there. I'm glad you're okay though.

It’s 8:30am in the morning. I am in the train from Brussels airport to Brussels center. It’s supposed to be a fast and quiet ride. However, the man sitting right next to me was refusing to pay the ticket. After a long 10min fight, he ended up paying. The problem is that he is still cursing out loud even though the ticket inspector already left. Of course, that makes me a little scared considering incidents like what happened to Irina Zarutska. I try to not look at him, my heart beats a little faster and I’m praying to get to the station asap. I can’t even freely talk about what part of the world he looks from because I don’t want to end up in jail for “hate speech”. This is the new reality of Europe. Where we can’t feel safe in our trains (not even at 8am), where we can’t feel safe when we speak up about it and where we have to watch over our shoulders 24/7. We used to be a high trust society. Europeans are civilised people.

Sometimes I really wish politically illiterate people didn't have the right to engage in political debates but I know that's anti freedom of speech so I'll keep dealing with their stupid takes I guess.

@Hoppeism Knowing the other women in my field, I imagine you're probably correct. A bit sad, that. Obviously we can't be an expert on every single thing in politics but having baseline knowledge and critical thinking shouldn't be too much to ask.

Women don't interpret having a thousand likes on swiping apps as "I'm loved," it's like being catcalled by construction workers. There's no hoeflation. You would be shocked at how many women have never been asked out in person or been in a relationship.

I wonder if I'll ever get likes on what I tweet on my feed rather than just my comments on tweets lol. Probably not but that's okay.

@zandpreme @literally_chad I see... good for her. I've never gotten that level of attention even digitally so it's hard for me to comprehend if she's not a total smokeshow. But I guess everyone has different experiences. Even when I set my location to the French city I'm in I barely got anything lol.

@ShinytasticRuby @literally_chad Depends on what you mean by city. It's a large town or a tiny city. Either way, it was just wild watching "it's a match!" 10 times in a row when she opened the app. When she decided to get a boyfriend it was like 3 months and then success.

@ShinytasticRuby @literally_chad My women friends basically match with every 2nd or 3rd guy they swipe right on. One showed me she had gotten 300 likes. She does not wear makeup.

@zandpreme @literally_chad This hyperbole is kinda insane because I don't think the average mid woman is getting that many matches. I certainly didn't get that many likes. Maybe an 8 or 9 is getting that many. Or a woman who wears makeup and puts on filters I guess. That's not me lol.

@zandpreme @literally_chad I see... I guess we just view it differently. I got a couple of matches in the short time I used it and they didn't even try to be conversational so I felt no particular excitement over it. I think it's better overall to meet someone in person.

@AngloVarangian It's absolutely terrifying to me how many of my fellow young Christian women bash on men on the daily. I can't fathom it. It seems counterthetical to the Christian message to hate people created in God's image but what do I know... 😅

This is another major problem. Older Christian generations are so out of touch with how much young women, including a lot Christian ones, have been psychologically programmed to hate men. They're listening to music artists like Sabrina Carpenter saying "all men are pigs," "all men are useless," "call men stupid in as many ways as possible." Instead of speaking out against this narrative older Christian generations often double down on this rhetoric saying young men just aren't doing enough to win over young women who subconciously hate men in general and not holding them accountable for hardly anything.
