This is a classic example of a clueless African country copying Western regulations that are not even grounded in the reality of their citizens.
Since EU require USB-C, Kenyan policy makers think they should follow suit.
How when majority of Kenyans use Kabambes? 🫠
Moe@moneyacademyKE
Kenya is set to make USB Type-C charging mandatory under new CA Kenya rules, a move that will see all phones use the same charger and phase out low-end phones.

🧠Cerebral malaria causes coma and high mortality in children, but diagnosis isn’t always straightforward. In malaria-endemic regions, children can test positive for malaria parasites even without it being the cause of their illness making it difficult for doctors to tell whether malaria or other infections, such as bacteria or viruses, cause a coma.
🔬New research by @MwangiShaban et al. shows candidate biomarkers, Angiopoietin-like 4 and Inhibin-βE , combined with platelet counts, can help differentiate cerebral malaria from other causes of coma. A promising step toward faster diagnosis and better treatment.

Let me tell you about CBC (again).
CBC was introduced to Kenya by a man named Dr. George Magoha.
George Magoha's son, Michael, did very poorly in school, struggling a chunk of the way through. I'm sorry to have to share this. Please don't ask how I know.
George Magoha's wife, Barbara, is Nigerian. This is now common knowledge.
CBC kills two birds with one stone for him. First, it ensures no child goes through what Michael went through (regardless of the means) -- or can be seen as punishing the nation for his son's failures, if you want to look at it that way. The E's Michael used to get now stand for Excellent. If there's an A in that grading system, I'm very sure it stands for Average. 😂
Second, it pays homage to his wife's heritage.
Any Nigerian or anyone who knows about Nigeria will recognize abbreviations like "JSS" immediately as that's borrowed right from them. (2)-6-3-3-3 was inspired by Nigeria's 6-3-3-4. Nigerians can go to university as early as age 16 so that additional year is fine out there. Brilliant people, those ones.
Anyway. You see why it's good to have Nigerian friends? Be intentional about making some. Your president is their relative; they will affect many things during his tenure. It's good to be aware.

I’m genuinely curious. A lot of people claim the new curriculum is dumbing down students, yet whenever someone shares the textbooks, it looks like kids are learning concepts that under the 8-4-4 system were only introduced at university and much earlier. Is that good or bad?

You’re not helping your wife, you’re carrying your child.

Guys be honest, can you do this to help your wife?

I recently helped a friend open a CDS account. He bought shares, checked his portfolio the next day, saw a paper loss, and accused me of misleading him 😀. Akauza. That reaction alone signaled a misalignment between time horizon and asset class a mindset that makes long-term wealth accumulation nearly impossible to majority. Explains why the rich will forever remain the tiny minority while the masses will still be poor centuries to come
Another one complained about about earning KSh 82 bob from a KSh 10K MMF investment over a month, clearly expecting outsized returns from a low-risk, capital-preservation instrument. That’s a classic case of return expectations divorced from risk reality.Mimi hata 200bob gain hunibamba.
Equities require time and volatility tolerance
Money market funds prioritize stability, not exponential growth
Wealth isn’t built by reacting to short-term mark-to-market movements. It’s built by understanding risk–return trade-offs, aligning expectations with instruments, and letting compounding work over long horizons.

A 4% chunk of the cake for a platform that's new is wild. Losing 4% of market share to a new entrant should wake every stock broker. Party is over.

Many economists are arguing that export-oriented industrialization is no longer possible.
Perhaps the most prominent among them is Dani Rodrik. In his most recent book, he explicitly argues that export-oriented industrialization is no longer viable, primarily due to new automation technologies that undercut the advantage of low-cost labour.
I respect Rodrik’s work, but on this point I disagree. Not only is export-oriented industrialization still necessary for development — it is also entirely viable in the contemporary world economy.
China and Vietnam are perfect examples. Both economies are still undergoing rapid and highly successful export-oriented industrialization. They are also adopting new automation technologies (such as industrial robots) at an astonishing pace, integrating them into manufacturing ecosystems that continue to absorb huge numbers of workers.
In a piece I published yesterday, I explain why export-oriented industrialization remains a necessary and viable path for developing countries.

@Blessed_Doc001 @jeffvsdaworld Do it quarterly and intentionally, save your funds to a substantial amount, then do the transfer. This brings the cost down by having a few transactions.
English

@jeffvsdaworld The biggest huddle with IBKR is the charges one has to incur to deposit funds into an account for here. An appropriate of 1600-2000 Kes as bank charges to make every bank wire transfer is quite high. Is there another way to deposit money that’s more cost efficient?

👉️For non-depolarizing NMBs, the Phonomyography-based neuromuscular monitoring device measured a significantly longer onset, and a shorter recovery time compared with TOF-Watch SX. For depolarizing NMBs, the same trend was also observed.

THE REALITIES OF INVESTING IN STOCKS...🧵🧵
It’s 2016.
The market is hot. Conversations about shares spill from boardrooms into barbershops. Everyone has an opinion and most of them are bullish.
You buy Kenya Airways at Ksh 18 a share, confident you’re thinking long term. After all, this is the national carrier. A strategic asset. A business that must survive.
Eight years earlier, you had participated in the Safaricom IPO. You watched your Ksh 5 shares grow fivefold to Ksh 25. That experience taught you to buy good companies early, hold patiently, and wealth will follow.
But the market has a way of humbling even the most confident investor.
