I Called Solana Below $1. Here’s Where I Think Capital Flows Next Today I still think L2s are a band-aid that created more problems than they solved — liquidity fragmentation, bridging risk and UX complexity that pushes users toward integrated chains like Solana. But institutions aren’t choosing Solana either. They’re building their own rails entirely. Canton Network exists because tradfi looked at the entire public blockchain landscape — Ethereum, L2s, Solana, all of it — and decided none of it meets their requirements for privacy, permissioning and regulatory compliance. So they’ve built parallel infrastructure from scratch. My 2020 Solana thesis was “Ethereum won’t scale in time.” My 2026 thesis is: public blockchains won’t capture institutional capital at all. That flows to purpose-built private infrastructure like Canton, while retail/degen activity consolidates on the chain with the best UX — which right now is Solana.
