I've like genuinely conditioned the FFXIV community to instantly hate any take I have regardless of how benign or normal it is, like a pavlovian response I could say "tanks should turn on their stance" and someone will be like "another bad take from this guy" very funny

@linkkling , however if you are going about it casually, you don't really need full overmelds. One or two overmelds is usually "good enough", depending on what you are trying to do.

@linkkling Depends on the type. For combat, it's via the clusters you get from roulettes/hunts, and is really only necessary for pentas if you are raiding week 1(easily outclassed by tome gear). Crafting/gathering is bis, and is from scrip(or spiritbinding),

all the high level stuff in ffxiv gets way less scary the more i research it tbh. turns out the big scary 'pentamelding' thing is literally just getting a bunch of materia and melding it until it works. it's so much less complicated than i was thinking

@envinyon Even saying "oh just use cheap pots" isn't true, because you still A. Have to spend the time to hunt down pots from the marketboard and B. Isn't always that cheap, depending on world, plus C. Where do you draw the line on what "cheap pot" is acceptable
