This is the disgusting map we are heading towards. Ugly insanely gerrymandered districts, that in the end produce a near tie. Congress can end this race to the bottom with a simple five-page law instructing courts to strike down politically motivated redistricting.

I grew up in Adam’s church. To be frank, I’m saddened that the state of our country has forced such a decent human being to enter politics. But I genuinely believe that he could do Kansas good. If you are a Kansas voter, I strongly urge you to give him your vote.

Democrats can pick up 19 seats vs the Republicans picking up 7 after the VRA was gutted. If you're in a blue State, rally your State Government! If you're in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Oregon, Washington State, you need to flip some State legislative seats this November!

@jakecobb If in the first example the SOLE STATED GOAL was to make a 60% minority district then that is illegal.

Since people don’t understand how racial gerrymandering will run rampant after the SCOTUS ruling today, I made a quick lesson… A none gerrymandered district might look something like this. Somewhat uniform lines and natural position of districts. A minority population holds a majority of an area. That’s possible because the whole state might be 30% of a minority but a very large percentage of their numbers are located in one area. I put it as a blue dot to simplify the explanation. What gerrymandering does (in this example) is called cracking. The group in question (minorities) is split among the other districts. So instead of having say 60% of one district’s population and 20% in the others, they get split roughly evenly in all districts, making up 30% in every district. The first example is not gerrymandered and districting is not based on race. The 2nd is both. This is what happened prior to the VRA and what the GOP hopes to do again. They will try to convince their voters that it is purely partisan and/or the VRA was racist in some way. Don’t fall for those lies.

The gerrymandering saga only ends when Democrats retaliate so much that Republicans have an incentive to support a federal ban.

The VRA is not design to elect a “Black candidate”. It is designed to elect the candidate of choice among Black voters. (This is commonly mistaken in talking about the VRA) You, btw, have never been the candidate of choice for Black voters.

Suspending a primary election days before early voting starts just so you can redraw the maps to disenfranchise Black and brown voters is a perfect example of the lengths Republican politicians will go to rig our democracy in their favor.

@ShawnNOrlando The district was drawn with the SOLE PURPOSE of beong a majority black diostrict. This is just as illegal as a district being drawn with the SOLE PURPOSE of being a majority white district. You are the one arguing a fallacy.

Keep in mind that black people were considered 3/5 of a person....the fact that there is no black representation to vote. This moves those polling centers far and away from black neighborhoods and makes it impossible for them to participate. Are you dumb or new here?

@ShawnNOrlando No black peoples vote should not count more than any other persons vote simply because they are black. The district was designed to discriminate against everyone but black voters
