Together we stopped the construction of a new jail in 2015 and closed the jail at 850 Bryant. We are now seeing a renewed call to criminalize and incarcerate more San Franciscans, directing more and more resources to policing and jailing.

SF’s trial backlog due to COVID has led to more COVID -- people being kept in jail awaiting trial, incl. hundreds past their legal deadline, has made it difficult to control the latest outbreak of COVID. The result: less healthcare & more isolation for detained community members.

For the 1st time in 2+ years, San Francisco has over 20 youth locked in cages at juvenile hall. This is a result of a deceptive recall & new DA who demoted/replaced Kasie Lee whom @chesaboudin had put in charge of implementing sweeping Restorative Justice & juvenile reforms.🚩🚨

The Drug War is officially back on in San Francisco. For the first time in years, people are being prosecuted for simply using drugs or possessing paraphernalia. It’s hard to fully comprehend the harm this will cause. I’ll try to lay it out below.
