His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, was also found guilty of allowing the death of a child, child cruelty, and sexual assault. The couple were in the process of adopting Preston. Just four months after being placed with them, Preston was taken to hospital unconscious and in cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to save him, he died. They will be sentenced on Thursday, 18th of June at Preston Crown Court.

As a Glaswegian I grew up with this attitude all around me but luckily my parents were against this anglophobia, my dad having served in the military as a young man and been stationed down south building lifelong friendships. As an adult married to an Englishman I will always support both Scotland and England and if they play one another, I’m definitely supporting Scotland but I will support England against every other team. That attitude often stems from a deeper belief that ethnic minorities are guests in Britain rather than fellow citizens with an equal stake in the country's future. The reality is that most of us were born here. This is our home. We have every right to celebrate what Britain gets right and to speak out about what it gets wrong.
