Shirika la Uwakala wa Meli Tanzania (TASAC) limeanza kujadili suluhu ya changamoto ya foleni ya malori pamoja na uendeshaji wa Bandari kavu Jijini Dar es salaam, kufuatia ongezeko kubwa la makontena katika Bandari ya Dar es salaam ambalo limezidi uwezo wa kuhifadhi na kuhudumia mizigo. Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa TASAC, Mohamed Salum, amesema Bandari ya Dar es salaam ina uwezo wa kuhifadhi makontena 28,000 kwa wakati mmoja, lakini kwa sasa inapokea hadi makontena 110,000 kwa mwezi, hali inayoongeza umuhimu wa matumizi ya bandari kavu ili kupunguza msongamano bandarini. Aidha, TASAC imeeleza kuwa uwezo wa Bandari ya Dar es sslaam unaendelea kukua kwa zaidi ya asilimia 16 kila mwaka, huku ukitarajiwa kuongezeka maradufu ifikapo mwaka 2030. Serikali kupitia Wizara ya Uchukuzi imeendelea kuwekeza katika bandari kavu kwa lengo la kuongeza ufanisi wa Bandari ya Dar es salaam, ambapo kiwango cha mizigo kimeongezeka kutoka tani milioni 18 mwaka 2021/22 hadi tani milioni 32 mwaka 2024/25. #MillardAyoUPDATES

This morning in Gaborone, President Kagame toured Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTC Botswana), a 50/50 joint venture between the Government of Botswana and De Beers. DTC Botswana is the world’s largest and most sophisticated rough diamond sorting and valuing operation, with the capacity to sort up to 45 million carats annually.

True leadership isn’t about titles or power, it’s about humility. No matter how high you rise, staying grounded is what sustains the journey.  Humility is the foundation of leadership that truly lasts.

This afternoon at the State House in Gaborone, President Kagame and President @duma_boko held a tête-à-tête meeting followed by bilateral talks with their respective delegations. The two Heads of State then witnessed the signing of bilateral agreements and Memorandums of Understanding between Rwanda and Botswana on avoidance of double taxation, visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official, and national passports, air services, health, economic, trade and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration between the Rwanda Development Board and the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre.

Mwaka 1980, Dr. Salim aliteuliwa kwa mara ya kwanza na aliekuwa Rais wa Tanzania wakati huo Hayati, Mwl. Julius Kambarage Nyerere kuwa Waziri wa Mambo ya Nje. Wakati huu Dr. Salim alikuwa amerejea kutoka kwenye majukumu yake Umoja wa Mataifa. Alihudumu kwenye nafasi hii kwa miaka minne kabla ya kuteuliwa tena kuwa Waziri Mkuu na Mwalimu baada ya kifo cha aliyekuwa Waziri Mkuu wa wakati huo Hayati, Edward Moringe Sokoine. Baadae Dr. Salim aliteuliwa tena kuwa Naibu Waziri Mkuu na Waziri wa Ulinzi na Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa. Hii ilikuwa mwaka 1985 na alihudumu katika nafasi hii mpaka mwaka 1989 kisha akaenda kulitumikia bara ka Afrika kama Katibu Mkuu wa Umoja wa Afrika (OAU) kwa miaka 12. Wale mliozishuhudia nyakati hizi tupeni kidogo picha ya Dr. Salim akiwa kiongozi ndani ya serikali ya Tanzania.

Mwaka 1961, kijana wa Zanzibar mwenye umri wa miaka 19 tu aliondoka kwenda Cuba na lengo moja kuu: kufungua ofisi ya Chama cha Zanzibar Nationalist Party (ZNP) huko Havana na kupigania uhuru wa Zanzibar. Huyu kijana alikuwa Dr. Salim, ambaye alifanya kazi kama Naibu Mkuu wa Ujumbe wa Zanzibar huko Cuba kuanzia Juni 1961 hadi Aprili 1962. Wakati wa shambulio la Bay of Pigs mwaka 1961, ambapo Cuba ilishambuliwa na askari wa ubepari walioungwa mkono na Marekani, Dr. Salim, alijitolea kuchukua bunduki ili kuitetea Cuba! Cuba ndipo alipokutana kwa mara ya kwanza na mapambano dhidi ya ubaguzi wa rangi Afrika Kusini, na kukutana na wapambanaji kutoka African National Congress (ANC) na South African Communist Party. Baadaye, akiwa Balozi wa Tanzania kwenye Umoja wa Mataifa (1970-1980), pia alitumika kama Balozi wa Tanzania nchini Cuba. Mwaka 2016, Serikali ya Cuba ilimtunuku Dr. Salim "Nishani ya Urafiki" (Medal of Friendship) kutoka kwa Rais Raul Castro - utambulisho wa urafiki na upendo wake kwa Cuba na mapambano ya uhuru.

The Catholic Church dedicates the entire month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of God and spiritual mother of all. In the plan of salvation, the Blessed Virgin Mary holds a special place. By virtue of her role to be the mother of the Son of God by divine election, she was conceived immaculately — i.e., without the stain of original sin — and by fidelity to her son has been crowned queen of heaven and earth. Everything Mary said and did leads to Christ. Who knows a child better than a mother? And what good and loving child does not know his or her mother and love her with all of his or her heart? Mary knew and loved Jesus like no one else on earth — and she loves each of her children, human beings, with similar affection and tenderness. The Church, in its wisdom, asks its children to be especially devoted to Mother Mary during the month of May and to be particularly grateful for all of her care. Mary, the most humble of all women, is a model for everyone, today, in the here and now. She is a model in a particular way for every woman, as expressed by Pope Francis. “There is only one model for you, Mary: the woman of fidelity, the one who did not understand what was happening to her but obeyed. The one who, as soon as she knew what her cousin needed took off [to help her], the Virgin of Promptness. The one who escaped as a refugee in a foreign country to save the life of her son,” Pope Francis said during an April 2014 message to 20,000 young people gathered in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a regional youth day. Years later, during an Aug. 24, 2021, catechesis, Pope Francis called Mary “the first disciple of Jesus” and reminded us that “Mary is there, praying for us, praying for those who do not pray. Why? Because she is our mother.” The Virgin, through Jesus, has brought heaven closer to us and her life is the best proof that it is possible to reach it.
