I share the sense of shock and bewilderment at the Sussex v Office for Students high court case. I am also deeply troubled by the "delight" in the win by Sussex - especially given that the evidence in the public domain of how their employees and their students acted does not exactly cover the institution in glory. jophoenix.substack.com/p/irrelevant-c…

After the Golders Green Jew stabbings, BBC radio invited me on to discuss the alarming levels of Jew hatred in the UK. As usual, they muted my mic near the end. As usual, I recorded it myself and restored the sound. Here’s what they tried to silence as soon as I mentioned the Green party…

@BarbaraRich_law Yes, I grew up in the Manchester suburbs. Anti-Semitism was about another country, the past. My parents' generation knew about the Shoah - even if it wasn't discussed much. Every day I am struggling with my own disbelief about how quickly hatred can rise again.

Part of the common experience of many children growing up in Jewish families in mid-late 20th century England was a sense of the peace and safety of the suburbs, and their great distance from places in Europe their parents had left as refugees. A sense now vanishing into memory?

@paul_jkrause I don't find the 'funny' bits funny. Humour tends to date. Perhaps better when read aloud. Wilkie Collins more interesting and subversive. Plus he could create interesting female characters.

Reading Dickens is entering a world of heart and soul. The passion, the calculation, the determined and ruthless pursuit of power and wealth, memory, childhood, good and evil, truth and lies. Plus, sometimes just reading his prose is delightful as a reader.

Let me explain @NadiaSawalha why people like you and your husband invite accusations of antisemitism when you criticise Israel. I'll start off by saying, it's not antisemitic in and of itself to criticise Israel providing you're being balanced and holding Israel to the same standard as you do any other nation, race or group of people in the world. But, when people like you are criticising Israel merely for defending itself against the constant attempts by the genocidal jihadist lunatics that surround it to wipe it off the face of the earth, and in not criticising those genocidal jihadist lunatics, you have proven without a doubt that you are holding Israel to a completely different standard than to those who want Israel gone. When you criticise Israel for trying to take steps to prevent the annihilation of it's people whilst saying nothing about the truly evil nation of Iran executing 40,000 of it's own people for merely protesting, then we know that you aren't being balanced in your critique and that your focus is on Israel alone. When you were silent or even celebratory about the massacre of October 7th but loud in your critique of Israel's response then we know you aren't being impartial. We then have to ask why are you constantly criticising Israel and silent about those that are trying to destroy it? Why is Israel being held to a higher standard than everyone else? Why is Israel not allowed to defend itself or take steps to prevent repeats of the October 7th massacre? Why are you so focused on Israel but ignoring real and actual genocides and atrocities being committed by other regimes and groups around the world? We can only then conclude that you are not only incredibly gullible and brainwashed but also prejudiced and very likely racist. I hope this helps.

A recent conversation has made me want to ask: are there any sibling writers, apart from the Bronte sisters, who are equally eminent? More or less equal, not a pair in which one person is more known as "the sibling". A. S. Byatt & Margaret Drabble? William & Henry James?

@rickygervais If you could remake any film with an all Transgender cast, which one would you pick? (I tried to do this with 'The Crying Game', but the story ended up not making much sense)

@sarahstuartxx Assume 'Suzy' is planning on getting a woman to do the actual work (I'm 67 and the thought of doing first the night feeds and then the school run does not hugely appeal.)

Zack Polanski and his "perception of unsafety" for British Jews. Jesus Christ. This is appalling. What does it take for perception to turn into reality? Any good hypnotist would know.

Fantastic writing by @SemperFemina21 🎯 I’ve read it thrice it’s so good ‘As a result, these arts professionals invent an oppression storyline for themselves, so they can justify their continued existence; so that they can remain in this fugue state, where they are groping blindly for meaning and relevance — but instead slam into unwelcome reality when confronted with real ones like Sara Morrison or @RosieKayK2CO

@MsPollyClark What I thought after seeing this was a) I am a 66 year old 2nd wave feminist and I look fine. b) if we are bringing looks into it - I'd rather not - there's nothing drop dead gorgeous about wearing a sundress in April and getting filmed doing compulsive cushion-clutching.

Campbell clutching that cushion and contorting her limbs while she plays along reminds me of the Juno Dawson interview with Jess Philips of a few years ago. Dawson fixes her with a death stare while she nods in agreement that he is a woman.

If I were looking for a way to damage the trans cause, I would have commissioned this video of Grace Campbell and some bloke being personally abusive towards the campaigners who secured the supreme court victory for women. What were they thinking?

@MsPollyClark One's role as a parent of an older child/young adult is to be wrong. It's always been thus. But gender identity ideology/queering is a new twist in the tale. As is the idea that we should be our child's best friend. We need to be true to ourselves while loving our children.

A thought on the Campbells. Anyone with a child of an age to be affected by the gender cult will know how difficult it is to resist. My daughter was furious with me for my resolute pushback. She screamed in rage and anguish when I contradicted the mantras she was receiving from school and Tic Tok. She had no friends who were not captured, and nor did I among the mums. It was extremely difficult to hold the line, and she hated me with every fibre of her being for quite some time. All I had were two lifelines: first, my own conviction that I was protecting her and the truth about biological sex was a red line I would never cross. It was the only thing I broke my anonymity for - going into the school to make sure the Head understood the law and that there would be consequences if I saw gender ideology appearing in the curriculum or affecting sports and facilities. Parents in this position will know how lonely and frightening a stance this was four or five years ago. Second - the example of parents on here who never softened their position though they would have been under pressure from all sides. The public spotlight on Graham Linehan makes his steadfastness in this regard particularly exemplary. Being viscerally hated by your child is no joke. It strikes at your core as a parent. I now think the ability to withstand that when the chips are down is what actually makes you a parent. Watching Grace Campbell clutch that cushion and contort while parroting that aggressive man's insults should horrify anyone that truly loves her.
