@greendragonhq In terms of documented convictions for politicians holding office Republicans outnumber Democrats 2:1 for sexual crimes related to minors. Just saying. Which is ironic since that's one of their key hooks for voters.

The Party of Pedophilia strikes again! Aberdeen City Councilor Riley T. Carter was convicted of three counts of rape of a child in the first degree, three counts of incest in the first degree, one count of child molestation in the first degree, and one count of incest in the second degree, by a jury of his peers in Grays Harbor County Superior Court.

@EWErickson IDK Erick, I think he’s doing what the majority of Americans want him to do right now and that’s find out why politicians are so hell-bent on protecting pedophiles. We’re all pretty upset about that, and frankly it’s strange that you’re not.

@CasualNyl @TheTrueVanguard I would support upping or ending SS income limits. I am a proponent of a progressive tax system. What I oppose is raising taxes without addressing spending. I also oppose the entire fair share mantra. It is populist propaganda designed to sow division and get votes.

A 1% wealth tax on billionaires in the US would raise $78 billion annually. The trust funds declined by $67 billion in 2024. It wouldn’t completely solve the funding deficits but it would avert the crisis that is coming by 2033 when the government will no longer be able to fully pay social security benefits. The IRS isn’t a charity. You can’t just pay extra to them. They pay it back with interest if you overpay. In order for more taxes to be collected, you need to change the tax code. You know, like Elon did when he paid for the last election.

It's really weird to me that politicians are deflecting away from current events and trying to sell us all on the idea that voter fraud is a huge deal. Anyone who does even the most minimal research can see that there has been so little confirmed voter fraud that it would affect literally nothing in elections. In fact, if anything there's a VERY SLIGHT favor in voter fraud for conservatives. But it's essentially a non-issue. I wish we could focus more on the things that matter most to voters of all parties. We can all get behind punishing criminals regardless of their economic status, reducing the national debt, and making sure the wealthiest aren't bypassing taxation and are paying their fair share to make sure the government and do the most good possible.

@CasualNyl @TheTrueVanguard A 1% wealth tax wouldn't fund 15% of social security each year. If you are for higher taxes and wouldn't notice and extra 1%, you dont have to wait. You can send it today.

The bottom 50% of the population holds 2.5% of the wealth. Do you expect them to pay 50% of the tax? Yes the top 10% pay most of the tax because there is a huge wealth inequality in this country that is only getting worse. The top 10% hold over 70% of the wealth in this country. They are not getting a rough deal out of this. Yes I understand unrealized vs realized. Before I retired I paid over $0.5m in taxes every year, so I know this shit very well. Now I could easily argue that if a bank, or even a company you own, is prepared to loan you money against an asset then that money is realized, or should be treated as such. I could also explain to you about the tax breaks that you get from selling a company that lets you avoid tax on 10x your original investment so that even when you do realize the gain it isn’t taxed. But clearly you are quite happy for the mega wealthy to continue to avoid taxation, so there really isn’t much point is there. A wealth tax of just 1% for billionaires would be enough to fully fund social security each year. And I can tell you that if I had been taxed an extra 1% when I was working, I wouldn’t have even noticed it. And yes I know there is a difference between wealth and income, but when you have the money to structure your tax affairs so you don’t have taxable income then clearly we need to think about taxation in another way. I don’t know why people feel the need to defend billionaires but then look down on low income earners. Particularly the Epstein class of billionaires in this country currently.
