🎥 National Foods CEO Mike Lashbrook expects to see three new plants commissioned by his company today increasing local crops purchases and helping cut down pasta imports. Natfoods invested US$22.7 million into the plants — cereal, pasta, and biscuits. 📌 Quick Facts on the expansion: • The new cereal plant can produce 800 tonnes per month, using around 15,000 tonnes of maize a year. • Natfoods can now make 1,200 tonnes of short-cut pasta per month, tapping into a market that consumes an estimated 5,000 tonnes monthly — most of which was imported • The pasta plant uses 1,500 tonnes of locally grown wheat each month. • The new biscuit line can produce 1,300 tonnes per month. • Natfoods is Zimbabwe’s biggest local wheat buyer, having contracted 4,500 hectares this planting season, with an expected harvest of 23,000 tonnes.
