Because he dislikes the country, the culture, the people, the lot. That’s why. It’s cheapest of cheap positions. Patriotism comes from a place of love. It’s the ultimate expression of the “We”. It’s absolutely inclusive, and it’s the most precious thing we have. You want to love England? Wonderful! Then join me. You hate it? Go to the fantasy land that is “Palestine” - if you can find it. It states: “Reaffirm the union’s opposition to all forms of racism, fascism and far-right extremism, including the divisive politics promoted by Reform UK.” And then: “The trade union movement must throw its full weight behind stopping a Reform UK government.” This isn’t neutral. It’s the UK’s largest teaching union taking a clear position against a political party while Zack Polanski has been invited to speak at conference.
