@tuuu28283 The two things are not related! But, there's an old quote, "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!" yet Sicilians are very short for Europe. The same might be true for Japanese people, certain peoples have a dangerous "glimmer in the eye" that Americans admire.

@Exothaumic @planefag I saw some video showing that spears beat swords at most levels of skill unless the sword wielders are extremely well trained

For those that don't know, this is a ridiculously difficult technique to pull off. 4 shaku is roughly 47 inches; this is a little longer than the majority of European longswords. As with the longer longswords they weren't practical to carry so the sheath was for protection during storage and transport and you'd typically have plenty of time to remove it before battle, so this kind of unsheathing is of limited practical utility. However, the ability to do it is a way of demonstrating mastery of the martial art.
Note however that it's also difficult to draw a three shaku blade (blade length ~36 inches or so) and that *is* a sword you can carry at your hip. European sabers, for comparison, have blades from 30-40 inches long and average out around 33-34, but they had shorter grips (as one-handed weapons) and Europeans are a bit taller than the Japanese on average, so they were about as long as possible while still being easy to draw from the hip one-handed, while a three-shaku sword is a bit over that length. Reach is incredibly important in melee combat, so having as long a sword as was practicable was important, and so if you could master a difficult draw technique, your limit wasn't the length you could draw but rather the length you could carry at your waist.
So while drawing a four-shaku sword like this is mostly a demonstration of skill, it's not purely without practical use, and is derived directly from the techniques for drawing a three-shaku blade which was absolutely used on the battlefield.

It’s true, every halfway intelligent right winger I know irl had a massive conflict with at least one elementary teacher over things like: reading ahead, reading too difficult books, not showing enough work, etc etc. it’s the first time we experience the uncaring tyranny of state bureaucracy and it sucks.

This meme explains like 75% of right wing politics btw.

@hallocopen_gr I still play airsoft! If anything it's the best way to train for "shooting at other people while they shoot at you"!

@SigmarWingus Japan has strict gun control laws, and civilians can't own handguns, so
Japanese toy gun enthusiasts continue to play with toy guns even as adults😅

Not to be that guy or anything, but is there any machine guns that are NOT belt fed? (I had to hear it for 2 days about assless chaps, so now it's your turn)

@yamanakanobody I doubt the relevant document systems would parse/print emojis, but it's a different system in every state!

@yamanakanobody Other people find me strange for the things I find embarrassing, which includes this.

@yamanakanobody Have you heard about what black people name their children? I've heard names like "la'quarius" "lashonda", English contains Latin and French elements which are associated with high class, so they imitate. One of them named their kid "la'trine" (latrine).

@JoelDiaz115 @RX_9999_2 They would enjoy this image, though

@_mAKE_mE_mAD_ Not everybody who calls themselves Christian actually follows its strictures. That being said, it is certainly designed to motivate people to do that.

@RX_9999_2 There are cuckolds in the US, but they primarily use Reddit and are universally hated.

@Garrel_Channel So all the shallow and lazy stories were right all along? We are actually being saved by the power of friendship. It really is that easy.
English

@Sahaliyan1928 @RX_9999_2 Yes!! You should love and preserve your nation! If you believe in your own nation, then you would want to see its friends do well too, and believe in their own nation as well!

@MigransX @RX_9999_2 I would have almost said Sicily for the guy on the left, until my eyes focused and I realized he is probably from Southern Japan or a nearby island. Not certain.
The guy on the right, I feel like I've seen him before. He looks like a half-asian... or possibly an Iranian.
English

@RX_9999_2 I think, in that case, what they would most likely decide to do is, they would kill you
I do not know if "guro" is haram
