The US military was able to establish a Forward Arming & Refueling Point [FARP] on an abandoned Iranian base [50-60km inside mainland Iran] for the extraction of the crew of downed F-15E [1x Pilot & 1x WSO] Overall U.S. losses in this particular CSAR mission 👇 - 1x A-10 Warthog [Shot down by Iran, pilot recovered alive]. - 2x HH-60G helicopters [UH-60/struck by Iranian AD/Survived & Landed/Definitely out of service for now]. - 2x HC-130J Combat King-II [Landed on FARP, couldn't flyback/destroyed on ground by the U.S. to avoid capture]. - 1x MH-6M Little Bird [Landed on FARP/Or came inside cargo bay of C-130/destroyed by the U.S. to avoid capture]. - The final extraction was conducted by another/3rd HC-130J/C-130, as per the U.S. all the operatives including the 1x pilot & 1x WSO of downed F-15E have been successfully recovered. - Conclusion: For the U.S. is a massive PR win, not only that it shows U.S. military's professionalism & capabilities, for Iran they can claim & are claiming that first they shot down an F-15E, then an 1x A-10, 2x UH-60, 2x HC-130J, 1x MH-6M, so U.S. material losses are immense, however for the U.S. the main objective was the recovery of their F-15E crew, so does for the Iran, material losses are great, however Iran didn't get the "Cherry" aka the F-15E crew, nevertheless this operation will be remembered for the ages to come. A pyrrhic victory for the US. But no loss for Iran, just a loss in opportunity. Iran shot down a F-15 and had the opportunity to capture the pilots alive, but finding a needle in a haystack is not an easy job. Especially when the US keeps bombing those who got close to the pilot. Nevertheless, despite the heavy losses of the US: • One destroyed A-10, one damaged A-10 • Several damaged Black Hawks • Damaged F-16 • 2 destroyed C-130 aircrafts • one or more MH-6 chopper destroyed • Destroyed F-15 • Shot down MQ-9 drone They still managed to extract their pilot, which in itself is an achievement, but faced many losses as a result. In theory, Iran lost nothing here, but only achieved hits and kills. The only loss was a loss of opportunity. Though make no mistake, the war is still not finished and we may see more interesting turn of events.

Two things can be true at once: a) this victory is pure PR with heavy strategic cost; b) Iran lost the opportunity to make it much much worse; What I'm more worried about is that this can give the Americans false confidence regarding boots on the ground.
