🚨Understanding this is really important! 🚨 You want to know what really kills traders of small market cap tokens? The small cuts that are hidden. The small things that obliterate your portfolio slowly… without you even realizing it: Slippage! Example: Let's say you begin with $1,000 and trade < 300k MC tokens against each other on a regular basis. Something we see very often in the "crypto trenches". Iteration step explained: You trade Coin A for another Coin B because you changed your mind for some reason. Calculation: 1000-1000*(0.96^1) = 40 You already lost $40 [of the $1,000]… …with only one trade in one direction! We assume 2% slippage in each direction or liquidity pool, that means trading Coin A for Coin B results in 4% slippage in total with one trade of A for B. That's a very typical setup below 300k market cap. We also make the simplified assumption that slippage is the same below USD 1,000 trade size, we adjusted the average slippage percentage from 3% to 2% (for each token) to account for this. A conservative estimate. So, you have to make these 4% back by trading alone, just to break even in that scenario. And that does not even account for the fact that you have to pay slippage again to exit the trade. To be frank, you would have to be a genius to win in the long run (with a large sample size). Let's run through a few iterations of this: We make 50 trades "in the trenches". Something one can easily do in a matter of 2 days if someone is active. What's the result? Calculation: 1000-1000*(0.96^50) = 870.11 loss We essentially lose 4% for 50 times in a row, just due to slippage alone! In percent that equals ca. 87% loss just due to slippage. If you break even with your trades – what most people cannot even do – you end up with a portfolio value of 129,89 USD after executing just 50 trades. Conclusion: Even if you trade roughly break even, you lose an extraordinary amount due to slippage when you choose very illiquid tokens. Therefore, if you choose to trade in that low MC environment, you need to – reduce – the number of trades you make considerably, otherwise you are playing a game which you are guaranteed(!) to lose in the long run, no matter how amazing your ideas might be. Ideas need to have a longer time horizon to reduce the number of trades. Or to summarize it with a famous German saying: "Hin und her macht Taschen leer!"

I am looking for things which are very rare: Projects which are still active after massive downturns [e.g. because a bundle got out]. Communities that have been active for weeks under harsh conditions. That endurance, coupled with creative new ideas (e.g. interactive memes) which are unique. I am looking for robust communities. Most projects and new launches are quick rug pulls, 99% don't survive the first three days. I am looking for those who have survived that period and well beyond. I think that's where value can be found, that's where very very very few people are looking and committing. The market caps can be extremely low, sometimes as low as 25k. If I find something, I plan to get involved in the project to build it up, behind the scenes, trying to grow communities organically. That's experimental of course but I like to go into areas which feel uncomfortable. There is a lot of noise to filter out, let's see if I can find- or build – a gem.
