The REOPENS project has introduced high value crops for smallholder farmers to produce for export. This includes spices such as cumin, coriander, fenugreek & fennel. The spices planted in Beitbridge District have reached vegetative stage.
Paprika leaf rust was observed at Murove Irrigation Scheme and farmers were advised to apply fungicides to mitigate the problem. Farmers at Chizumba Irrigation Scheme applied Mancozeb to control paprika leaf rust when it began to affect the crop. @kudakawareware@mpamhadzi

A commercial farmer in Hwange District has planted 80kg of saffron (13650 bulbs) at a depth of 7-12 cm. He is using a solar powered small overhead sprinkler irrigation system and irrigates every second day. The bulbs are planted on 0.25 hectares of land.
The House of Smiles visited four young people whose second chance education is supported by Cesvi at Ponesai Vanhu Technical College. The young people are studying towards diplomas in hotel and catering, bakery studies, motor mechanics and building.
Annually the House of Smiles takes children living and working in the streets that are above the age of 18 to different technical colleges for orientation in a bid to remove them from the streets and assist them to gain technical skills.
