Domestic and regional markets in Africa have seen impressive growth in recent years with increasing demand for high value crops, and international traders are increasingly interested in sourcing from Africa. @libertymurwira @george_mapope @mdtczw @euinzim

The REOPENS project has introduced high value crops for smallholder farmers to produce for export. This includes spices such as cumin, coriander, fenugreek & fennel. The spices planted in Beitbridge District have reached vegetative stage.

Paprika leaf rust was observed at Murove Irrigation Scheme and farmers were advised to apply fungicides to mitigate the problem. Farmers at Chizumba Irrigation Scheme applied Mancozeb to control paprika leaf rust when it began to affect the crop. @kudakawareware @mpamhadzi

The BRIDGE project promotes human resource development through providing CSOs consisting of smallholder farmers with tools of trade such as protective clothing, bicycles, and tablets. In this video Malala DRR chairperson receives a tablet to improve communication. ⁦

A commercial farmer in Hwange District has planted 80kg of saffron (13650 bulbs) at a depth of 7-12 cm. He is using a solar powered small overhead sprinkler irrigation system and irrigates every second day. The bulbs are planted on 0.25 hectares of land.

The House of Smiles visited four young people whose second chance education is supported by Cesvi at Ponesai Vanhu Technical College. The young people are studying towards diplomas in hotel and catering, bakery studies, motor mechanics and building.

Annually the House of Smiles takes children living and working in the streets that are above the age of 18 to different technical colleges for orientation in a bid to remove them from the streets and assist them to gain technical skills.

The project is aimed at enhancing social, economic & ecological resilience of Gonarezhou National Park & neighbouring communities through sustainable integrated landscape management supported & incentivised by innovative and sustainable payments for measurable ecosystem services.

The LANDSCAPE project supplied 3 laptops & 2 tablets installed with Arc GIS to improve @forestrycom1’s capacity to take part in forestry measurements and mapping. The EU funded project is implemented by SAT WILD in partnership with Cesvi and Gonarezhou Conservation Trust.

The BRIDGE project hosts policy audits where farmers engage stakeholders like Beitbridge RDC, @AgritexS, @MoLAFWRR_Zim and plant quarantine among others. This platform offers Beitbridge district farmers the opportunity to influence laws and policies. @euinzim @ItalyinZimbabwe
