What's it really like to be stationed on the frontline in the Middle East? Air Specialist Wilkinson from the RAF Regiment shares his story — working around the clock to detect and shoot down aerial drone threats to protect our allies, filmed at the start of the month.

Today we bid farewell to the Deputy Chief of the General Staff 🫡 Lieutenant General Sir David Eastman KBE formally hands over the role tomorrow, and today was sounded out by State Trumpeters from the Household Cavalry Regiment. From there, he departed Army Headquarters in the Late Queen Mother's Land Rover.

He set out a clear vision for a hybrid Royal Navy, combining advanced technologies with uncrewed systems, and highlighted the urgency of strengthening deterrence in the North Atlantic amid rising Russian activity. Today, the U.K. Ministry of Defense released footage of British troops in the Middle East sheltering amidst an Iranian ballistic missile threat to their base during the conflict with Iran. They can be heard saying “I’m in position to brace lads,” as subsequently, a ballistic missile impact is detected.

RAF Counter Uncrewed Aerial System teams operating Rapid Sentry engage a drone threat using a Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM). Working around the clock across the Middle East over the past few months, RAF Regiment gunners have been protecting UK personnel, partners and allies from persistent drone attacks — with several personnel now achieving 'ace' status having neutralised five or more threats.
