The undisputed MVP of every Eastern and South-Eastern European family gathering 🏆🥗 It's Olivier salad in Moscow, "Russian" salad in Belgrade, and "French" salad in Zagreb. To the uninitiated, it might look like just another potato salad. But to anyone who grew up in Eastern Europe, that massive, creamy bowl of diced potatoes, root vegetables, pickles, and mayo is the definitive texture for New Year's Eve, Christmas, and family and friends reunions. Here is just one of the many recipes: 🧑‍🍳 Ingredients: * 650-700g (approx 1.5 lbs) chicken breasts or two large fillets, cooked and diced * 300g (approx 10 oz) cooked carrots, diced * 400g (approx 14 oz) peas, cooked * 5 egg whites from hard-boiled eggs, diced * 200g (approx 7 oz) pickles, finely chopped * 500g (approx 1.1 lbs) ham, diced * 1 rounded teaspoon mustard * Around 700g (approx 1.5 lbs) of mayonnaise * Salt, to taste 🧑‍🍳 Instructions: Finely chop all the pre-cooked ingredients (chicken, carrots, egg whites, pickles, ham) into small, uniform pieces. Combine all the pre-cooked and finely chopped ingredients, along with the cooked peas, in a large mixing bowl. Add the rounded teaspoon of mustard and the mayonnaise, mixing thoroughly until everything is well combined and coated. Season with salt to taste. @izengolf @BalkanAndBeyond Chicken belongs there as much as it does in spaghetti Bolognese. Doctor Sausage (beef/pork mixture a bit like mortadella) is the original (and the greatest). We can guess why you don't mention pork as an ingredient.
