UWA to open a regional zoo in Eastern Uganda (UWEC–Mbale Zoo) UWA has begun relocating wildlife to Uganda’s first regional satellite zoo in Mbale. So far, lions, a zebra, a waterbuck, an ostrich, and peacocks are thriving in their new home. The project will bring wildlife conservation and education closer to communities across Eastern Uganda. @ugwildlife This is a nice development. It will go a long way in bringing in some revenue for UWA and also help in educating the nation and the generations that will follow about wildlife conservation. It has been long overdue though. However, better late than never.

@GovUganda The cattle compensation in Teso, Lango and Acholi sub regions should be followed up closely. Some government officials just keep hoodwinking him that the process has started yet we have not received anything. The poor implementation of these programs is what fails them.

There are moments when life tests a person's strength beyond what most of us can imagine. My friend, @rwamu_ had just completed his law degree when he suffered a stroke. Many feared the worst. Some thought his dreams had come to an end. But through pain, uncertainty, and years of recovery, he has remained remarkably strong, determined, and hopeful. Today, there is a smile on his face again. There is progress. There is hope. When the call came , all of us that knew this fine legal brain, kindred spirit set in. I want to sincerely thank the friends let by @SilverKayondo , classmates, and well-wishers who have stood by him. Because of your generosity, land for a wheelchair-accessible home wss purchased in Manyangwa, Gayaza, and the title successfully transferred. Now comes the next step: building the home. For Mwene, this is more than a house. It is dignity. It is accessibility. It is independence. It is a place from which he can continue his recovery journey in safety and comfort. I am therefore appealing to all friends, colleagues, members of the legal fraternity, and every person of goodwill to contribute whatever they can. No contribution is too small. Together, we can help a young man who has fought so courageously rebuild his life. @Atukundaisaac1 Account Number: 9030026965607 Name: Yongyera Roland Bank: Stanbic Bank, Metro Branch Mobile Money Contacts: 0783604779 0775393676 (Registered Name: Yongyera Roland) If you cannot contribute financially, kindly share this message. Someone in your network may be the answer to this prayer. Mwene's story is a reminder that while a stroke may change a life, it does not have to destroy a dream.

@GovUganda @UNEB_UG @Educ_SportsUg Thank you UNEB, but some schools still charge extra money for things like; passport photos, registration processing, identity cards and internet/data for online registration. Is this in order?

1 in 10 school-going girls in 🇺🇬 misses 1–3 days of school every month due to lack of safe facilities, pain or fear of stigma. Periods should never interrupt learning. UNICEF continues to support efforts to make schools safer, more inclusive & #PeriodFriendly for every learner.

@AttoGladys In my years of medical practice, I have come to understand that some clients come to camps because they are curious to know what exactly goes on in these camps. Others come because they expect gifts and hampers or even food. In a nutshell others are simply medical tourists.

In most of the eye camps that I speak about here, I am usually the only ophthalmologist doing surgeries. This disappoints many of my attendees who expect to find white doctors. Another funny thing is that patients who stay opposite the hospital gate prefer to come only when we announce a camp in the same hospital. So, I need to be educated small small, Is the word ‘camp’ equal to better services in the minds of the wanainchi?🤔🤔 NB: Meanwhile I offer the same services free of charge everyday in the in the same hospital.

Here's an interesting scenario of a client brought in with a history of a high appetite for tea. This patient could hardly eat food without tea. Drinking tea with meals may increase the chances of developing Anaemia especially in people whose diet is already lacking in Iron.

This is genuinely an incredible breakthrough by Stanford scientists. They were able to reverse Type 1 diabetes in mice by combining blood stem cells with insulin producing pancreatic islet cells, essentially teaching the immune system to stop attacking the body’s own beta cells. The results were remarkable: 19 out of 19 mice were prevented from developing Type 1 diabetes. 9 out of 9 diabetic mice were successfully reversed. And importantly, the mice did not need lifelong insulin or chronic immune suppression during the experiment. Of course, this is still animal research, not a confirmed human cure yet. Many treatments that work in mice fail in humans. But scientifically, this is one of the most exciting and legitimate Type 1 diabetes breakthroughs in recent years.

Thank you AMREF for always leading the way. But the question is; Have the mangers or heads of these institutions been trained on how to properly use these facilities? Most of these innovations are good but they end up remaining "white elephants in the room."
Amref Health Africa in Uganda@Amref_Uganda

@Amref_Uganda has installed incinerators in school latrines. Safe disposal means girls can manage their periods privately, stay in class,& avoid stigma. This aligns with the 2026 MHM theme *Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld*. When schools provide dignity, girls stay & learn.

@docakx I once saw a cardiologist managing a cardiac patient with Sildenafil. I aked why, and he told me he was using its side effects to the benefit of the patient. I'm thinking we can positively benefit from DIGO this way.
