@simonrug But no Louie Hennessy, who might be asking himself whether Bath is the right club for him?

I completely understand the dropping of Adam Beard as he hasn’t been on form for a while now - but I’m fearful the lineout will take a hit as a consequence. Our lineout stats often plummet when he’s not playing. Hopefully Ben Carter can step up in that department

@CapS45 The explanation they gave as to why Scarlets and Ospreys declined PRA 25 suggests negotiating overreach and commercial naievity on the part of each of their boards. If they had been more measured and commercially astute then perhaps Ospreys would not be at risk?

Just on this specific point. In the committee hearing, RCK and AT said that the performances of the Wales men's team and Cardiff going into administration meant that PRA25 couldn't stand. Yet they gave all four clubs a deadline to sign it by May 9 '25.
Sei Williams@CapS45

@PhilRugby The obvious response to that would be to ask why the WRU was still saying that four equally funded clubs was the way ahead as recently as May 8th last year. RCK was nearly two years into his stint as WRU chairman by that point, after all.

@LynnGlaister @theArmsPark @WelshRugbyUnion Agreed.WRU should explain to the stakeholders at Cardiff the reasons for this decision and whether the Y11 bid was the more compelling from a Cardiff perspective or was it accepted because it fits the WRU agenda. W

If the Y11 bid is that good release the details now @WelshRugbyUnion - explain how and why you can accept such a betrayal of one club for another

It’s being reported that this week is the final deadline for the two remaining bidders to submit their final proposals for Cardiff Rugby. All the pieces are there to take the club to the next level, it just needs the right ownership. cardiffrugbylife.wales/2026/01/12/car…

@PhilRugby Perhaps they should employ somebody who understands the difference between “debilitation” and “debilitating”, and the context in which each should be properly deployed

@CardiffRugbyWeb Agreed. Two major selection errors,Botham and A.Davies should have started. For all of Mulder’s strengths his kicking game is not of the required standard,Three of the O’s tries were a direct result of poor kicks from our 9.

While there is an understanding of the "23-man game" element of rugby now, in a Welsh derby you'd also like to see your best players on the pitch as much as possible. James Botham is undoubtedly one of our best players.

@CardiffRugbyWeb Bradley is not getting any opportunistic at Quins, he would be a better option as would Wimbush who is on loan at Cornish Pirates

Wouldn’t be against Cardiff taking a look at Tom Florence. Hasn’t quite made the jump at Ospreys for whatever reason but his profile fits the physical right wing/strike runner 13 that we like, wouldn’t command too much money, WQ as well.

@simonrug Very good article,if Gareth had been re-elected as chair Welsh rugby would be in a better place. As it would if the WRU council members had set aside self interest in favour of the greater good…..but that was too much to expect

@CardiffRugbyWeb He has been imperious in the air all season, benefit of working with LH? Given the issues Cymru FB has incurred during the Autumn, S Tandy should be taking a very close look at Cam during the derbies

Cam Winnett looked in great nick after a few weeks off with a groin issue. Absolutely textbook high ball work as Cardiff largely dominated the skies in Parma.

@CapS45 @nicksjj Agreed. If WRU made a contractual commitment to take on responsibility for repayment of the loans, then unless they reserved a contractual right to change their position( which is highly unlikely)they are on the hook.

@nicksjj Unless there were significant last minute changes to the PRA25 signed by Cardiff and the Dragons, the covid loans haven't just been voluntarily taken back by the WRU, but contractually so. If that is the case, the WRU surely can't just pass those loan repayments back, can they?

@CapS45 @maybethiseason One of the few positive steps taken by the new WRU regime was to place the burden for repayment of the covid loans where it should always have rested. They reportedly committed to this in PRA25.if they are now reneging on that commitment ,RCK should resign.

@maybethiseason Thanks Rob! On the WRU's end game, and whether it's getting to two - even with the 2 team route, they still needed investors to put in £17m over 5 years. With no control over any of the rugby operations of a rugby club.

This is an outstanding article that perfectly illustrates the brass neck and incompetence of the WRU. I've no doubt thought that they fully intend no investor to sign up for this 'opportunity' thus forcing us to go to the 2 union run team route as the only option left
Sei Williams@CapS45

"If their ambition is to portray the WRU as cartoon baddies, they could scarcely make it any more obvious if they took to parading up and down Westgate Street every day in front of an orchestra belting out the Imperial March". gwladrugby.wordpress.com/2025/11/14/i-a…

@CapS45 @maybethiseason But surely RCK, given his cv,understands that the proposals, if WOL is correct, are unworkable, even if Reddin does not? So what is their end game?

No centres, no centres, no centres, ALL OF THE CENTRES! Like buses, Cardiff have suddenly signed two centres on short-term loans. Former Cardiff schoolboy Osian Roberts comes in from Sale and former Cardiff Met student Will Rigg is in from Exeter.

@stephenjones9 @TimesSport Sir Cyril Radcliffe, who had never travelled further than Paris, was tasked with drawing the boundary demarcating the partition of India. The consequences were disastrous. Is Dave Reddin to Welsh rugby what Radcliffe was to India?
