@markowenmartin Yes, all the soul destroying admin. It seemed to grow in volume year on year. Being just a metric (calculated from research income, publications, teaching feedback) was the last straw for me.

@SimonSublime I think that change is fine. It's important for new people to get into it. It's just time for me to think of something else to do. I'm the same, but I don't want to add to problems! All the bureaucracy removes my joy.

@markowenmartin Would thoroughly recommend! Academia isn't what it was 20 years ago. I guess, like you, it was the interaction with the students that kept me going.
