This is an absolute disgrace. You can have a view on the penalty decision at Fir Park one way or the other but to leak personal addresses of match officials is absurd. I wish John Beaton and his family well. There should never be a place for this sort of intimidation.

The unthinkable honour of making failing Grayling appear as the great defender of justice. Your ludicious, back-of-a-fag-packet attack on juries will diminish any decent legacy to the of the very worst Lord Chancellor in our history.
David Lammy@DavidLammy

The King’s Speech set out Labour’s plan to deliver change faster and give security, fairness and opportunity to working people across Britain. It was an honour to take part in this historic tradition as Lord Chancellor.

The Prime Minister's former mentor has described the Government's plans to cut jury trials as "a cure worse than the disease". If Starmer won't listen to his backbenchers, he should at least listen to the man who helped train him. theguardian.com/law/2026/apr/1…

Morning again, David Lammy 👋 There is a queue of 80,000 cases. 24% of courtrooms - nearly a quarter of capacity - sit completely empty today. How - and I cannot stress this enough David - ON EARTH is the answer to restrict jury trials? Yours, from the brink, Joanna x
Court_Stats@Court_Stats

📈Today, 10 April 2026, 126 out of the 516 Crown courtrooms in England & Wales will not be sitting. That's 24% of them. #courtstats #CS10042026 courtstats.co.uk

@KarlTurnerMP @CrimBarrister The removal of the whip is utterly disgraceful. @Keir_Starmer is a disgrace to our profession not only for this but for the whole jury trial nonsense. Barristers have long memories, and this will not be forgotten Mr Starmer

I’ve been a loyal Labour MP for 16 years and have only broken the whip on jury trials. I’m disappointed to be suspended without prior discussion. I’ll always stand up for justice, my principles, and East Hull. See my statement below.

"Some 3,000 of the Prime Minister’s fellow lawyers say that juries have not caused this crisis... Let us be clear: the Prime Minister’s backbenchers oppose it, his professional colleagues oppose it, and, in a previous life, he opposed it, so why is he forcing through a policy that is unjust in principle, unworkable in practice and opposed by everyone?" Thank you @DavidDavisMP for asking the Prime Minister to rethink plans to curtail jury trials. #JusticeNeedsJuries

Why would anyone think that driving a large horsebox through Waverton/Christleton left handed whilst using the right hand to chat away on a mobile is a good idea? 🤯

Joanna is politer than I am going to be. For the Justice Secretary - a former barrister - to suggest that being wrongly accused of a crime and imprisoned for three years is just like “scraping your knee”, should be a resignation matter. @DavidLammy owes the public an apology.
Joanna Hardy-Susskind@Joanna__Hardy

Your local friendly criminal barrister here! 👋 I need you to know that anything up to a three year prison sentence imposed without a jury trial is really not the same thing as scraping your knee without seeing a consultant.

@ChesterFC Sad to see Calum’s departure. As a manager and a coach he was always someone I enjoyed officiating, win lose or draw, we’d always have a laugh and a good catch up. Fantastic servant to his club, he’ll be missed. Good luck in whatever comes next pal

Chester Football Club can confirm that First Team Manager Calum McIntyre has left his position. It was previously announced that Calum would depart at the end of the season. However, all parties believe it is now in the best interests of the football club to part company with immediate effect. Appointed in May 2022, Calum took permanent charge of the Blues on more than 200 occasions, guiding the club to two play-off campaigns, including the National League North Promotion Final last year. McIntyre, who was named Manager of the Season in 2022/23, also twice led the Blues to the Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper in his time in charge. Tonight’s news brings an end to Calum’s 14-year association with the Club, having first joined as an Academy coach in 2012. Everyone at Chester Football Club would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Calum for his exceptional contribution, and we wish him all the very best for the future. The process of appointing a new First Team Manager is underway, and an update regarding interim arrangements will be provided in due course.
