@AuditeInsulae The NO experience is watered down thin gruel. I go SSPX whenever I can and it’s always amazing. When I’m traveling I’m almost always stuck with NO and it’s anemic. If you have focus and a ton of devotion you can get by with the NO but it’s almost impossible to be your best

I’ll never understand why libs went after normie Republicans so hard (eg Romney in 2012, the SPLC going after milquetoast pro life groups, etc.). Libs had a defanged, captured opposition who were happy going 60mph in the same direction the Left was heading towards at 90 mph and who just wanted things to be a little more ‘free market.’ Libs should have buttressed Chamber-of-Commerce Republicans. That they didn’t and instead tried to anathematize them was a generational political error.

As a boy, I was at a boarding school very close to Parliament. I took the opportunity to go and watch the debates in both houses from the visitors' gallery; at that time it was not widely known that one could do this, so it was easy and quick to get in. I saw all the famous politicians of the 1970s. But what was self-evident, even to a teenager, was that whereas the elected members of parliament were out to score points in their speeches, before voting according to pre-set ideas, the hereditary Lords were genuinely issued in persuasion and had open minds. This was because, being hereditary, they were beholden to no-one and no party; ironically, they were much more representative of ordinary people with common sense than their political colleagues in the lower house.

We are grateful that Bishop Fellay warned the members of the SSPX that they will probably be excommunicated after the consecrations in June. It's time for his followers to leave the SSPX and rejoin the Catholic Church, because they will be risking eternal damnation if they don't. Fellay's warning shows that he accepts the authority of Rome to excommunicate. If that's the case, why doesn't Fellay accept the pope's authority without reservation and call off the consecrations?

Bishop Anthony was formally commissioned during Vespers at the Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The celebration brought together Anglicans, Catholics, Orthodox and many other faithful. His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle delivered the homily, reflecting on the shared faith of Anglicans, Orthodox and Catholics and on unity in Jesus Christ.

Yesterday - Day three in Rome - I had the pleasure of commissioning Bishop Anthony Ball as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s representative to the Holy See. Bishop Anthony was commissioned in a beautiful choral evensong at the Chiesa di Sant’Ignazio Loyola. The service was full of joy and the hope, and brought together Anglicans, Catholics, Orthodox and many others from across God’s Church. Thank you to His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle preached powerfully during the service about our common faith and unity in Jesus Christ. Please pray for Bishop Anthony Ball as he takes up this important ministry and for the @AnglicanCentre
