@KirkKapitan @eastblocvisuals evidently the CIA allowed them to copy edited designs intended to blow up--which the Soviets caught, and they just retained the silhouette while re-engineering every part of the shuttle

🦜🇮🇷 On modern Iranian streets, the rush and gray of daily life grind to a halt with a single poem by Hafez, picked from a box by a tiny parakeet. This isn’t fortune-telling, nor is it superstition; it’s a street-side ritual to recapture the soul that modern life forgot, through the sheer warmth of poetry and aesthetics. It is the most tender, most poetic street prophecy, whispered into life’s dead ends through the verses of a master.

Perhaps more than anything, young people see a world without simple wonder. A world without joy. A world in which they are NPC’s in some rich a**hole’s fantasy about freedom. A network state in which their voices don’t matter. And for some inexplicable reason, they don’t like it.

“I don’t think most people are formulating a new worldview in which AI is a boogeyman political project hatched by billionaires. I think they’re more likely to understand AI as an extension of an already inequitable system, and as an accelerant of that inequality.”
Brian Merchant@bcmerchant

Wrote about the college kids booing AI, and how, in a moment rife with economic precarity, affordability crises, and narrowing job prospects, AI has become the new avatar of American capitalism.
