I loved this article!
"I’ve been shot, stabbed, run over, airlifted from a burning ship, and rescued from more than a thousand mangled vehicles by firefighters using cutting equipment. It’s incredibly rewarding work."

@oldmudgie In my experience, the delay is not normally caused by the train company but by the passenger kicking off when asked to stop by other passengers, causing ppl to feel unsafe+resulting in police being called.
English

Delaying a train because someone has been found smoking or vaping is a ridiculous over-reaction that inconveniences other passengers. It’s not as if someone has been assaulted. railuk.com/travel/greater…

@Liz_ORiordan Obviously that might not work for you, but if you feel up to it, it could be worth explaining that you really wanted to see him, and see if they have any suggestions?
English

@Liz_ORiordan There may be other options if you need them. Eg.A friend's son was found after being missing for a long time, so he was advised to have a closed coffin but the undertaker put a ribbon in his hand which came out of the side, so people could sit with him and feel connected.

Feeling a little bit broken. As many of you know Dad dropped dead 2 weeks ago when I was on holiday. I needed to see him to say goodbye in the chapel of rest. But the lovely funeral director has kindly advised that given the changes that happen with time, they only recommend I say goodbye to Dad with a closed coffin.

@notnaughtknot to a baby that adults are understanding them (or at least the gist of what they're saying) most of the time, even when they're not in reality forming genuine words yet.
English

@notnaughtknot Maybe it's like when people have a stroke and they're speaking and are convinced about what they're saying, but others don't hear what they think they've said. The thing with babies is that we do often imagine what they want and answer their babbles, perhaps it does seem...

Lendwithcare's a fantastic microfinance org that I've used for many years to lend money directly to people in low income countries, £15 at a time. At the moment people who get referred by existing lenders can join and get a free £15 credit to lend out.
