@_kar33m This system should include improvements to accessibility, and a whole look that marries the track, track, and online touchpoints. And logo, a shared colour palette, good typography, and a shared pool of pictograms, to enable greater legibility. Just the livery? Useless.

One of these trains does visual identity of a British transport institution really well. The other is a mess. We don't need the flag to prescribe the British rail identity. We just need the Double Arrow, the colour palette, and good typography. That's it.

London Underground station flooding has reportedly been reduced by around 90% thanks to a group of engineers: beavers. After conservationists reintroduced a family of beavers into a nearby city park, the animals built dams and restored wetlands that now absorb and slow floodwater naturally. Authorities had planned major man-made flood infrastructure, but the beavers effectively created their own system — while also boosting biodiversity and restoring the ecosystem around them.

I think DfT should stop drawing attention to reliveried trains and instead quietly get on with it. The fanfare has already become a bit polarising and distracting. Having a few quantifiable successes to point to after a defined period of time might be a more effective strategy.

@GarethDennis Here @GarethDennis is the VIA Rail livery for their Siemens Charger-Venture trainsets, of which the Airos are a variant. The locomotive and cab car have strong angles, but the coaches are all strong horizonal bands.

@fionaajade @Guard_Amos @alexhornbyrail My efforts with the proposal, are primarily because I love the railway and i want to see it grow and promote modal shift, and GBR has the best opportunity to make the railway better through design. A Railway brand of our own making, not one that has been imposed.
