Life is loving…losing…longing :: perpetually and not necessarily in that order and in various combinations or singular peaks and lows. The darkest dark and brightest light go hand-in-hand. Be brave and strong and stay open. Gobble it all up, share yourself, and never give up

Oh, look, the magistrate’s (not judge, apologies) husband killed somebody through careless driving, without charges dismissed due to “lack of evidence” How the heck can this woman be expected to cast an unbiased judgement in the case. Google “mascelle careless driving” 🤬
Marja Kooreman aka Sitara Morgenster@SitaraWrites

@plate_class @ZooNealand Still. She killed him. New Zealand (its judges especially) doesn’t give a fnck about people dying on its roads at the hands of others

Immigrant that barely speaks English and ‘clearly doesn’t understand the road rules’ kills young Maori lad 180 hours community service, 12-month driving ban, $4,500 reparations 🤦‍♂️

@ZooNealand If you knew more about the 'jockey', you wouldn't be so charitable towards him. Amazing how much the media are prepared to leave out.

Wild how the carbon police always go after food producers and not the ones that make mountains of the plastic shit they sell at two dollar shops to be used once as a halloween costume and then thrown into landfill. Nope. Not them. The guys that grow our food.

Welcome to the new followers I’ve picked up this week. There are quite a few of you across all of my platforms! I set up my Substack because I felt there were perspectives missing from the mainstream media, angles that weren’t being explored, questions that weren’t being asked, and conversations that were being shut down. So I made a space to write into that gap. It’s independent, it’s mine, and it reflects what I’m seeing and hearing across a wide range of political conversations. I’ve deliberately chosen not to put anything behind a paywall. I want these perspectives to be accessible to anyone who wants to read them, regardless of whether they can afford to pay. At the same time, I do really appreciate those who choose to contribute financially especially because they don’t have to. That support is appreciated more than they know. In terms of what I write about, it’s mostly political, social, and cultural commentary. A lot of it is focused on New Zealand, but I also step into wider global politics where it’s relevant or interesting. If it’s being talked about, argued about, or quietly ignored when it shouldn’t be, there’s a good chance I’ll end up writing about it. I also publish “A Week Is A Long Time” each Saturday which is a wrap-up of the week in politics, both in New Zealand and abroad. If you’re new and want a sense of the kind of work I do, here are a few pieces to start with: 👉The argument against rolling Luxon even if you don’t like him aniobrien.substack.com/p/i-changed-my… 🇺🇸What America is up to in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz aniobrien.substack.com/p/the-strait-o… 🎙️My reaction to watching Louis Theroux's Manosphere documentary aniobrien.substack.com/p/inside-the-m… 💉What Chris Hipkins knew about the vaccine risk to young people aniobrien.substack.com/p/he-knew-the-… 🙈The media response to the allegations of Chris Hipkins' ex-wife aniobrien.substack.com/p/the-sudden-d… 🌱Who are the Opportunities Party and what do they stand for? Are they Left or Right wing? aniobrien.substack.com/p/the-truth-ab… Thanks again for following.

This is a MUST watch... one of my recent videos, MILLIONS of views. Ford filed patents to read your lips, scan your iris, monitor your heart rate, and run your face through a criminal database. In your own truck. Without telling you.

Decided to dig out this knit. Never known what to call it. The 70s tank top? The chaos tank top? (Note for any US chums, I’m British so tank top = sweater vest I think!)

@94822rfn I imagine the posts are close and tight enough together to keep the water out and channel it away from the inside, but who knows. Maybe the design can be improved on 😊

@SitaraWrites Neat but is it fully waterproof? I would have redesigned so the poles are laid like a thatch roof encouraging water to flow down before penetrating into the shelter.

There’s been a lot of misinformation about immigration under the new Free Trade Agreement with India. Much of what’s being said is spin rather than substance. Here’s the facts. This FTA does not open the floodgates on immigration. It allows around 1,700 temporary three‑year work visas per year - less than 3% of all work visas. And they can’t be renewed. Total numbers are capped so there can’t be more than 5,000 at any one time. The temporary work visa is targeted at skills New Zealand already needs - like doctors, nurses, teachers, ICT and engineers. These are roles that help keep hospitals staffed, classrooms open, and businesses productive. Claims about family migration are simply wrong. The FTA does not grant automatic rights for family members to enter, work or study in New Zealand. There is no back‑door pathway. The FTA is about lifting incomes for Kiwis, not importing labour from India. It means we can sell more of what we are good at to 1.4 billion people. It’s about bringing money into local communities, and helping Kiwis get ahead.
