Not saints, but hey, they lead SA well. Not the same way, .... but they did the most. Each had a clear focus. Contributed immensely to our growth - generally. SA, like the Greece, wouldn't take one day to build. Enkosi Madiba. Enkosi Zizi. Enkosi Nxamalala

Top South African Legal Minds Clash in Landmark B-BBEE Legal Sector Code Hearing The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has become a powerhouse of legal talent this week, with some of South Africa's most respected advocates and senior counsel gathered for the multi-day challenge against the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Legal Sector Code. The hearing, running until Friday, 8 May 2026, features prominent figures arguing both sides of a case that could redefine transformation in the legal profession. Leading the applicants' side is Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, appearing for three of the major law firms (Bowmans, Webber Wentzel, and Werksmans). Known for his sharp constitutional expertise, Ngcukaitobi is among the standout senior counsel in the packed courtroom, addressing procedural matters before Judge Nicolene Janse van Nieuwenhuizen (sitting with a full bench of three judges). The challenge was originally brought by Deneys Reitz (formerly Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa), with Bowmans, Webber Wentzel, and Werksmans intervening as co-applicants. Senior partners from these firms, including Ezra Davids (Chairman and Senior Partner at Bowmans), have been vocal in supporting the review while affirming commitment to meaningful transformation. Opposing the application are representatives for the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition (Parks Tau), the Legal Practice Council, the Black Lawyers Association, and other defenders of the code. The courtroom has drawn top legal minds from across the profession, with public interest high enough to reject virtual proceedings in favour of open court. Arguments centre on whether the code's strict ownership, briefing, and procurement targets are rational and workable within the partnership structure of law firms. Formal submissions began on Tuesday after Monday's discussions. A judgment is anticipated after Friday's close. The case has been described locally as having "all the best legal minds under one roof," highlighting the calibre of talent assembled in this precedent-setting battle over race-based policies in post-apartheid South Africa.

@ConCourtSA The technicality of "within 30 days" has thinned out. This pertains to the question put to the chief Justice's office by Julius Malema MP. It's the #PhalaPhala farmgate. This is a matter of national interest, unfortunately it has got nothing to do with the EFF

The Woman Who Claimed That There Was A Hitman Who Wanted To Kill Ngizwe Mchunu Has Been Arrested The woman who claimed that there was a hitman who wanted to shoot and kill Bhinca Nation Podcaster Ngizwe Mchunu has been arrested. A woman known as Pamela Masango has been arrested after accusing her boyfriend of being a hitman who intended to shoot Ngizwe Mchunu during a Maskandi event held at Madadeni College Stadium in Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Saturday night. Pamela's boyfriend Nkululeko Shabalala, a resident of Osizweni and the man accused of being a hitman revealed that the said woman has severely damaged his reputation, which is why he decided to open a case against her, as the whole world now views him as an assassin. Shabalala said Pamela has shown great remorse and has been pleading with him, even sending voice notes asking him to forgive for lying in a packed stadium. The suspect is expected to appear in the Madadeni Court soon. DEVELOPING STORY.

🔴 IN CASE YOU MISSED IT 🔴 Eastern Cape SANTACO’s controversial taxi boss, Simphiwe “Gabs” Mtshali, appears in court tomorrow for a bail hearing. The case is set for 04–06 May 2026 (in Cape Town). Gabs had fled his home and hid in Cape Town after being tipped off by compromised KuGompo City SAPS officers that the NIU was baying for his blood. He faces charges of: 🔹 Extortion 🔹 Money laundering 🔹 Racketeering The charges are linked to long-distance bus operators, including cases of protection fee collections. The SAPS Multidisciplinary Task Team on Extortion is tightening the net. He was arrested alongside Simphiwe Gxumayo (Matatiele Taxi Association), who faces the same charges. More suspects are being pursued. SANTACO EC leaders have travelled to Cape Town to support them in court. They appeal for leniency, citing Mtshali’s role in protecting KuGompo City shopping malls during Zuma July 2021 unrest. Lawyers are expected to push for a transfer of dockets to KuGompo City’s useless Fleet Street Police Station, where dockets and witnesses risk “disappearing.”
