@DrGailBusby I don't know why you think this is a good thing. It's worrying from a resilience point of view; what if you were abroad, or sick? The patient couldn't have been treated? And this hides holes in staffing and capacity issues

The part of the NHS people don't see - I'm on annual leave but at home. Called today about a patient who was admitted. I'm now going in to do her operation as I'm the best person to do it. I won't claim any money or time back. This is the best thing for the patient. Full stop.

This is like a lesson in how to facilitate older people while honouring who they are. What a class act by @ladygaga with legend Liza Minnelli. The conferred whispers of "I gotcha" "I know" picked up by the mikes make it especially touching.
