OKC has a billionaire who was able to buy a team-- Clay Bennett bought the team & relocated it from Seattle.
OKC had a stadium. They previously had an NBA team during Hurricane Katrina.
OKC is very a small market, but it's at least growing at a rapid pace (PGH is shrinking)

I'm glad Shams included the phrase "EXCLUSIVELY in Las Vegas & Seattle," putting an end to silly debates about which cities would be good markets for expansion.
I'm sick of having 1000 people in my mentions arguing that Raleigh/Boise/Fargo/Kansas City/etc should get an NBA team.

Breaking: The NBA's Board of Governors has approved a vote for the league to explore bids and applicants for expansion teams exclusively in Las Vegas and Seattle, sources tell ESPN. A bidding process is expected to generate offers in the $7-10 billion range for each team.

The fan base would be all in… they still show up for the pirates ffs… Pittsburgh has been growing a lot in the last decade.

❌ Not a large market
❌ Low projected population growth
❌ Not particularly affluent, low revenue potential
❌ No arena
❌ No ownership group to buy a team (most importantly)
❌ Suboptimal demographic
There's dozens of better targets

I really like the rebrand because of what the style, colors, and inclusion of trees suggests the direction they are going with the jerseys.
If the rotation is something like the 2021-22 city jersey with a white and black color way, it’s going to hit in a major way and that logo is going to compliment it beautifully.

All of the Timberwolves rebrand content hitting my TL is so fascinating to me because the Timberwolves simultaneously have arguably the worst current uniforms in the NBA and the best throwbacks in the NBA. The answer could not be more obvious: fully embrace the KG era aesthetic.
