People aren’t gonna like this, but I’m going to say the quiet part out loud. JJ McCarthy will see SIGNIFICANT playing time this preseason. Not due to a QB battle, but rather to showcase him as trade bait for teams who will be in need of a backup QB. Murray will be the starter and Wentz will be the Vikings QB2. If JJM remains on the team, he will be QB3. I said what I said.

I just can’t understand why people are so definitively out on JJ McCarthy 10 starts into his career when there were signs of progress in the final 4 games of 2025 combined with his work ethic He hadn’t played football in 20 months outside of one preseason game and things were starting to click towards the end of the season He’s also only 23 years old I’m not out on JJ McCarthy. At all

@JasonHarmonNFL Exactly how fans should look at this. If Kyler beats him out (likely), great. If JJ beats out Kyler, also great! We could see both on the field this year anyway

I have a lot of trust in Tom, so this could get very interesting. Kyler is a very obvious upgrade over what the QB room did last year, but if JJ wins the job it means he’s made the improvements necessary to earn it. Either way, it’s a much needed jump from last season. Let the best man win.
