@Jeremybtc The McDonald's analogy doesn't really make any sense. "The burger is just the reason you show up to their land" the sales of their products, including the burger and fries, are how they're able to pay for the real estate. Am I missing something?

Nobody teaches you how business actually works. McDonald’s is a real estate empire. The burger is just the reason you show up to their land. Red Bull owns zero factories. It costs $0.09 to make and $3.59 to buy. They sell a lifestyle, not a drink. Amazon’s retail barely breaks even. Half the internet runs on AWS. That’s the real business. Google is free because you’re not the customer. You’re what they’re selling. Disney is in the licensing business not the movie making one. Costco sells groceries at cost. The $65 membership is the entire business model. Gillette sells you the razor cheap. Then owns you on the blades forever. The most profitable companies don’t sell what you think they sell. The real business is always one layer deeper.

During one period of lockdown when we were allowed out I asked for a test drive, salesman looked at me and said “you know they’re expensive” I suppose I hadn’t shaved in 2 weeks and did look homeless 😂😂 (bought a new 911 instead)

@gazborangers @AutoPap Porsche Teesside were great. Been invited to all sorts of events afterwards, test drives, meals out and always made welcome. A zillion % better than Mercedes next door.

@AutoPap Porsche masters of that. Ignore you the whole time you are in. Made the mistake of buying a 911 from them, salesman who is still there today, never once thanked me for the order. Latest one delivered from Porsche High Wycombe will never buy from Glasgow again.

In my 20s I met a woman at the gym outside Manhattan who invited me over to her place for a party. So that weekend I was at her fancy apartment and the whole thing looked like this. NEW: China officially opens the world’s tallest bridge, completing the project in under 4 years. The bridge features a restaurant at the top, a whopping 2600 ft above the river. The bridge not only cuts a 2-hour drive to 2 minutes, but also features as a theme park with a glass skywalk, a high-speed glass elevator, and a waterfall off the edge of the bridge. Visitors can also bungee jump off of it. The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is 2050 feet above the river and spans 4600 feet over the river. Insane.
