@lisakeb007 @so1arangel @Bealeionaire @anon_opin 15 minute cities do not *preclude* you from doing those things. This is the thing I don't get about the arguments against them: You can *still* travel further distances if you *want* to, but having facilities close at hand means you don't *need* to.

The idea of '15 minute cities' is so benevolent and inoffensive that there's really no hope for any progressive idea if the alt right can successfully turn it into some sort of weird conspiracy.

@ProfBrianCox What does that have to do with it? Also who cares, obviously the imperial units are derived from metric units. Imperial units are still the common units of measure for most.

Wait ‘till he finds out that the statute mile is defined to be precisely 1,609.344 metres.
Cletus Van Damm@CLETUSVANDAM12

@ProfBrianCox it's so frustrating watching Brian Cox's shows when he uses kilometres.The BBC doesn't even respect British people enough to at least put the MPH on the screen.Everyone in the uk measures distance in miles.Say kilometres all you want but show mph too..easy @BBCNews

And she’s done!! It turns out that hell hath no fury like Sarah trying to apply decals when she’s very tired on a Friday night. But it’s weekend. Rude not to.

@Bhaal_Spawn I'm done. Can we skip it and see if 2026 is any better? (please, for the love of all that is good, let it be). I was just thinking earlier that every new year since 2020, I've thought "glad that's over, this year's going to be better". I've been wrong every year😞

If you wanted to destroy NATO, the most successful alliance in human history , threatening to invade 2 of your allies would be a good way to start.

364 MPs voted against holding another 10 year inquiry, into something that already had an inquiry into it, which released its results 4 years ago and was completely ignored, by the people who are currently calling for another inquiry.

Almost there. She’s not perfect - I’m not happy with the gappy wing roots, but it’s brought me a lot of peace and joy! Now I have a major decision to make. Which one do I build next…

@MartinBoxty @kechogarcia (end - begin) will not work: end is almost always < begin It would be more like: full = (end == (max_sz - 1)) || ((begin - end) == 1) max_sz can be any positive integer greater than 1. It does not have to be a power of 2.

@Slartybartfast @kechogarcia You can just check begin == end for empty and end - begin == capacity for full. That said, it’s worth noting that unbounded indices like this will break on overflow if max_sz isn’t a power of 2 (push/pop math breaks) or if the index type is signed (undefined overflow behaviour).

3 lines of code in c, no expensive allocations, handful of instructions easier to understand. int begin = 0, end = 0, queue[max_sz]; void push(int e){queue[(end++) % max_sz]=e;} int pop(){return queue[(begin++)%max_sz];}

@Slartybartfast You could add an extra int counter and check every time you add. That'd be ~2 extra lines.

@NBSaphierMD Perhaps because nobody is flying them, because there are NO DRONES! Seriously .. I've yet to see any evidence. Every bit of "evidence" posted is a plane, helicopter, planet, or a star. There were never any drones. Please stop spreading disinformation.

@lhf55472946 @SahkoEE "almost impossible" sounds like a challenge to me ... 🤣 AM25S05 are 4x2 multiplier chips. No wonder there's a lot of them!! Also - looks like the date codes are from 1981, so must have been manufactured for quite some time. 12MFLOPS in 1976 is a bit special!

@SahkoEE This unit was connected to a Data General Eclipse minicomputer through a special interface. Without the main computer and with limited hardware documents it's almost impossible to make such a device work again...

Welcome to 2025! I have to share my most absurd purchase last year, the FPS AP-120B array processor. It was the fastest floating point coprocessor from 1976, with 12MFlops and cost $30000. I have absolutely zero usage of it but I hate to see such a piece of history being scrapped
